I know you have to pay taxes FOR SURE. I have sent things to Egypt and it has become expensive.
My advice is that you do what the Cleo has said. There are a couple of reasons I would suggest it.
First – The weather. It is so close to the beach and the humidity, heat etc will warp the “wood” if your furniture is going to be made of any. The local furniture would probably be made with what lasts and is considered of good quality in that area (of course I would purchase things from a reputable shop).
Second – Cost of shipping bulk etc. Also, I have seen furniture in Egypt which is western and looks great and it works well. I would also be concerned about things if they break or anything like that while being shipped.
These suggestions are from experience.

I once had a friend who went to Dubai and bought all needed furniture in 3 days … shipping and taxes are not that expensive (as far as i knew)
BUT i advise to buy all your needs from here … we have all the satndards , categories and fashions and i am sure it would be cheaper

Where are you? You say you are here – where is here?
Why go to a neighbouring country? You will find all you need to completely furnish a home in Cairo, lots of ready made furnishing, rug companies, bedding shops, kitchen utensils, electrical retailers etc.!
There are also some very good carpenters around Pyramid street, Cairo who will be able to make furniture to your specification, all at reasonable prices & as you are furnishing a whole apartment you will be able to get some great deals from any of the retailers.
If you go out of Egypt to purchase your furnishings you will most certainly have to pay taxes, no point to this unless you already have furnishings in your own country that you want to ship here then you must contact a shipping company & hire a container, they will do the rest.
