I agree with Lily. A trip is a trip regardless of how many flights, train rides etc that you take.
Watch out though flying on a private plane may not be covered.

I’m 99% sure that travel insurance covers you from your departure date, to you arrival back in your home city.
If not, just call the company that your insurance is with. They’ll tell you exactly what it covers.
