OBX November Nor’Easter Storm 2009 Outer Banks
Didn’t want to take the expensive gear out today so I took a Handicam in an underwater housing and went to the Avalon Pier in Kill Devil Hills and a house that is way out in the surf in Kitty Hawk. I’ve always wanted to stay in that house during the summer! One of the last one’s standing on that stretch after Isabel. The quality is might bad on the actual video but that’s how it goes with a Handicam :-) Too funny that The Weather Channel was calling it “Atlantic Assault”. Anyway, it’s always fun to get out in it. Check out my other stuff if you haven’t already!

I know huh? And this is nothin’! There’re some homes in the water in Nags Head and in some places it looks like a new inlet. This is a rough one! Thanks for checkin’ it out.

This is some good footage – I’m in Manteo and have been wondering about the rest of the area. Thanks for posting.

Sweet vid!
I’ve been going down there since 72. I’m 40 now and still love it.
@ 1:09, I still can’t believe that house is still up!

Wow! I ran the OBX marathon the weekend before- I would imagine the race would have been cancelled if it would have been on 11/12! Hope everyone is safe and didn’t suffer too much damage.

That’s funny! I didn’t even notice the typos. Dang Graphics programs don’t have spell check :-) I guess we get too used to it and when you’re doing these things fast, you gloss right over it.
Rodanthe is finally starting to get back in shape. Just opened to traffic that’s not FWD so I guess that’s good.

Yea, it was pretty crazy. I loved the bench too! I though..some is missing that bad boy :-) Have you watched the other one I posted from Nags Head? It’s up there in the video responses.

Hey….did you see the one I posted of damage in Nags Head?

I “surfed” :-) through a number of videos this morning, looking for Nov. 2009. If you send me a link for NH, I’ll take a peek, thanks! Glad to hear Rodanthe is coming back, we feel badly for what the residents are going through…I lived across the street from Long Island Sound in 1954 and we had 3 hurricanes in a row, then my Mom said…enough! and we moved…:-( Guess it comes with the territory.

This was just a small storm… the flimsy built houses along hwy12 in Nags Head and KDH are on borrowed time! They are waiting on a “Chicago type fire”, or a category 3 or better hurricane!!

You aren’t kidding! We love it here but it’s just a fact that we are heavily at risk. Like someone else commented here, it’s just a sandbar really.
