I would say that the Latin Quarter is one the most pleasant and central place to stay in Paris. There is a huge park called Jardin du Luxembourg, close to the French Senat, some of the most romantic restaurant, streets, places of Paris.
The 7th arrondissement of Paris is nice too and close to the Eiffel Tower, to La Place de la Concorde.
