Wicked has a lottery about two hours before every show for the first two rows of seats at the theatre. At the box office of the theatre, you write your name on a piece of paper and they put it into a hat. Half an hour or so later, they draw around 25 (not sure of the exact number) names. If your name is chosen, you get up to two tickets in the first two rows for $20 each.
There is also standing room, and sometimes they will give you discounts on same-day tickets, or some kind of deal if you lose the lottery.

There is a half-price ticket booth in Times Square. There used to be one in the World Trade Center, but 9/11 put an abrupt end to that one. You have to stand on line to get tickets for that day’s performance. The only shows that will be available are shows whose houses are less than 50% sold, so you probably won’t get any “Wicked” tickets there … yet. It depends on when you’re going to be in NYC; “Wicked” won’t run forever, and eventually even it will send tickets over to the half-price booth. In the meantime, you can get tickets for other shows there that are normally $80 for $40 plus a $1.50 fee.
