What way will get me cheaper airfare?

I’m planning a trip to California from New York this summer for some time in July (my dates are flexible). They say a good time to book flights is 3 weeks in advance.

But is it better to book my flight now or to wait 3 weeks before I want to go to get the CHEAPEST airfare?

Here’s what I do when I need to find a good deal on airfare. If I’m not sure what airlines fly to my destination, I first check http://www.sidestep.com. Then I go to the airline’s website and check their prices which are usually lower than what you’ll find on orbitz or travelocity. Remember, Southwest doesn’t use an online website, so you’ll have to use their website for them. Then begin periodically checking prices, at all times of the day. That way you’ll have a good basis of comparison and know when you are getting a great price for your ticket. Since your dates are flexible, plan to fly on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Good luck.

If you like the price now book it, if you wait and the planes fill up you could be looking at paying double/

You might save 30 bucks or so if they go down but that is likely tpo be it.

If you see something for near 300 grab it.
