Can I get a bus from northern bus terminal,Bangkok to go to Pattaya?
How will I go to the bus terminal from the victory monument?
How much Does the ticket cost and do I need to book the ticket before a day or more?
Is the return bus available in Pattaya to return Bangkok on the same day?

Yes you can go to Pattaya from the norther bus terminal. You can take the BTS from Victory Monument to Sapan Kwai and that a taxi to Mor Chit bus station.
Buses to Pattaya run all day until I think 9 pm and you dont need to reserve the ticket 1 day in advance, and leave every 30-40 minutes, the same coming back.

Take the skytrain. Get off at Ekamai BTS station, walk to the bus station. Buses depart every half hour for Pattaya. Price of a ticket is app. Bt. 120 pp. Reservations are not necessary. Takes about 2 – 2,5 hrs to get there.
You can also go to Morchid bus station, but that is more difficult to reach. Far away from BTS and MRTS Morchid stations.

NO,
Northern bus terminal is for going to the North and Northeast.
To go to Pataya you need to take a bus at Eastern bus terminal which called “Ekamai” -Sukumvit. You can take Shy train from Victory Monument and get off at Ekamai station, then you will be there. The bus to Pataya leaves every hour, no need to book ticket in advance, so as from Pataya to Bangkok. Bus fare was 90+ baht 4 year ago. After oil price increased, the fare should be raised around 20%. or so.
You can go to Pataya and come back on the same day, but you have to start early to have enough time enjoying there. Most of the time, visitors don’t want to leave Pataya within day because there are so many interesting attractions to be explored.
Website given below may get you to know a lot about Pataya, enjoy.
Welcome to Thailand and have a graet time.

From Mo Chit: Take the BTS north to Saphan Khwai N7 or Mo Chit N8 and a cab to the station (25 baht and 70 baht)
The bus to Pattaya is about 135 baht from the northern Bus terminal. You can get a ticket the day of travel but if the bus is full (unlikely unless a holiday) you may have to wait. Its about 2.5 hours so I would suggest staying overnight if you can. Kamphaeng Pet 2 Road, tel: 0 2936 2866. Buses depart to Pattaya, every hours from 06:30 to 18:30
Sri Ratcha Tours (0 2936 4029); provides an additional service with airconditioned buses running to Bang Sean and Pattaya. The buses run from 05:00 to 20:00, daily.
From Ekmai ; Take the BTS south to Ekmai E7 (45baht)
You can take a bus at the Eastern Bus Terminal on Ekmai Road in Bagkok. There are air-conditioned buses leaving daily from 5.30 am-9 pm. The bus departs every 40 minutes. Tel.0 2391-9829. There are also the second-class air-conditioned buses leaving every 30 minutes from 5.00 am-9.00 pm. Tel.0 2391-2504.
