The Benefits of Staying in Hostels

0

Thanks to silly horror movies like Hostel, actual hostels have gotten a bad rap over the past few years. In actuality, most hostels are very safe and clean. Some even have private rooms and other amenities. In fact, by providing a more authentic experience at a cheaper price, they can be a great alternative to hotels.

Hostels are able to keep their prices low by operating with very few extras or frills. You will be expected to bring your own toiletries and towels. Your bedding should be taken care of, however you may be expected to strip your bed upon check out. Most hostels have common rooms where computers or wifi are available.

Dormitories are still the norm for hostels, but it is often possible to reserve private rooms (which are still cheaper than most hotels). A new trend of “designer” hostels has appeared over the past few years. These are hostels with interesting concepts or odd design.   Examples would be a hostel in a tree house in Turkey, or a prison turned artist colony in Slovenia.

In most cases hostels are locally owned and staffed businesses. Staying in these hostels not only supports local businesses but also gives you a chance to connect with the locals.   Many hostel owners will be happy to talk with you, offer you a drink or tell stories.

Many hostels offer activities or tours for their guests. These extras could be anything from a nature walk to a pub-crawl or guided tour of the city. Even if they don’t sponsor their own activities hostel owners can usually point you in the right direction. They are a great resources for stories, advice and restaurant recommendations.

An upscale hotel may be more comfortable, but it distances you from the world outside. With a hostel you are much closer connected to the local culture and world. Any discomfort you experience will be more than made up for by the experiences you gain.

Abu Dhabi Emirates Palace

Emirates Palace was operated by the luxury hotel group Kempinski Hotels & Resorts. The world’s most expensive hotel was built and is owned by the Abu Dhabi government. The city, which is the United Arab Emirates’ capital makes a great impression on the Middle East corporate tourism being the biggest rival of Dubai. The 3 billion $ cost hotel was opened in 2005 and is a colossal standstone itself. The seven star hotel shows the beauty of Arabian culture. Traditional decor is used inside mostly in silver, gold, marble and glass mosaics. The chandeliers are made of Swarovski crystal. There are 114 domes (including the Grand Atrium which is higher than the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome), 200 fountains, the luxurious and technologically advanced Conference Centre, The marvellous Blue Salon and so on. The simplest suite is called Palace Suite. Each of them contains at least three rooms and a 61″ plasma screen. There are 302 grand rooms in Coral, Pearl and Diamond categories with a floor area of 55 square meters. The high-quality elegant rooms are furnished to the highest level comfort so hotel guests can relax in total luxury including a 24-hour butler service. The Gulf Arab royalty has a reserved separate floor. The hotel is also the official guest place of Abu Dhabi’s government with 22 three-bedroom suites capable of hosting for each heads of state and their entourages. Being one of the word’s most prestigious hotels, Emirates Palace is a popular place for dignitaries . . .
