What are the best deals out there for booking a cruise??
I am trying to find my boyfriend and I a cruise to take around Valentine’s Day, and there are so many different traveling sites out there that it is almost overwhelming. What is the best site that you have used? Any horror stories of what I should avoid? We are thinking of taking a cruise out of Miami or somewhere in Florida. Thanks!

We booked our cruise at a AAA office. The lady there was very nice and quite knowledgeable. We booked our flight and cruise together, which saved us a lot of frustration. A Carnival representive was waiting on us (and others) when we exited our flight. They provided transportation via bus/shuttle to the port, so we didn’t have to worry about missing the cruise. They also provided transportation to the airline on the way back. I highly recommend going this route if you are not familiar with or close to the port.

Claudia:
All the web sites are basically the same. They do not reach you on a personal level and find out what you like, no less there is no match of you to the cruise line. If you have a little time, email me at dena@thecruiseplanner.com and tell me what you are looking for and when and I would be glad to assist you in planning and booking your cruise. I guarentee the lowest price and the best service. You have nothing to lose!!!

First understand that you must be over 21 or you must have someone over the age of 25 in the same cabin. You can go to any cruiseline’s website and you can book directly. I recommend that you use a certified travel agent who is at least an accredited cruise counsuler and preferable a Master and who belong to CLIA. Almost all Internet agencies are also ‘brink & Moter types as well and can give you good service. Do not work with any that you cannot talk to one on one on the phone.

I actually just booked a cruise 2 days ago for me and my boyfriend on the week of Valentines day directly through Carnival.com…agent was Marcus Woods (really nice and helpful) we got a free room upgrade so we got a room with a window and $100 off for booking on a certain day…total cost cruise and taxes was 750.00. Tips, shore excursions and liquor will be added on later. Not bad for two people and 5 days with all of your meals. We are travelling on the Elation departing Port Canaveral Florida on Feb 12th. Best advice I can give you is sign up for their specials and newsletter emails…I get about 3-4 a week with special deals and pricing. If you decide to book with Carnival maybe I will see you there…we are heading to the Bahamas: Grand Turk, Caicos and Nassau. Can’t wait…86 days and counting.

The absolute best answer I can give you is not to use a travel website, but to talk to a good travel agent. Tell him/her what your needs are, and that “you are looking for the best deal”.
There is no additional cost or hidden fees for their services and you’ll have a name and a face to speak to, rather than merely inputting your name, address and credit card into an on-line form and hoping for the best! Personal service is everything.
For Valentine’s Day you should already be booked. Do yourself a favor – go see a travel agent today.
Bon voyage.
