What are the going fees for a communications consultant working for an NGO in Brussels?
I’ve been asked to work on a consulting basis with an NGO in Brussels. Having only worked in the private sector, where I earn €100/hour, I don’t know how to structure my fees in this new setting. I’d like to be competitive, so any information about consulting fees and/or fee structures for consulting with NGOs in Brussels would be most appreciated. Thank you.
I am working in Brussels in the int’l development consultancy field.
First, of course there are a lot of different NGOs, some are widely known and can offer a nice package to their consultant, especially when their projects are funded by donors such as EC or World Bank.
BUT most are not big nor funded by international donors and that will of of course depend of your experience. NGO are project’s oriented so they will favour a better social impact than usual consultant fees:

For 5 years of experience NET monthly salary ~ 1500 €
For 10 years ~ 2500 €
For 20 years ~ 5000 €
