Seattle Vacation Ideas Your Children Will Love

0

If you are planning to visit Seattle Washington any time in the near future I hope you are either bringing along your children, or the child in you at the very least. Why you ask? Well, the answer to that is simple, because there are so many fun things for children to do in Seattle.

In addition to the many parks spread throughout the city, and by that, I mean that Seattle has several extraordinary parks. Among those great parks are: Alki Playfield, Cal Anderson Park (which boasts a wading pool and a gigantic chess set), Cascade Playground (which features free music Fridays from noon until 2:00), Discovery Park, and Woodland Park. But parks and playgrounds are just a start. Seattle really has so much more to offer than just this.

There is the Children’s Repertory Theatre, which offers plays and musicals that are sure to delight children of all ages. In addition to the theatre, Seattle has an excellent Children’s Museum. For hands on learning, there is the Pacific Science Center and to aid in a healthy respect and appreciation of musical arts, there is the Experience Music Project.

If you have a child or are a child that wants to grow up and touch the stars, the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame might be in order. And there’s always Gameworks’ for the child in all of us that has never outgrown playing video games. For little boys that may never grow up there is the Northwest Railway Museum and the Boeing Tour that shows how these huge planes is made. There is also the Museum of Flight, which consistently ranks as one of the top museums in this category worldwide.

If your child is a lover of animals, there is so much to do and see in and around Seattle that it is difficult to know where to begin. I’ll start with Wolf Haven, which offers daily tours that last about an hour and provide visitors an opportunity to observe these magnificent animals in a natural surrounding. Next, there is Northwest Trek, which allows guests to take a tram ride through their park for the purpose of observing several animals in a natural environment. One of my favorites is Cougar Mountain Park, which is really a one of a kind experience for any animal lover. This park takes animals that are endangered and shelters them while providing education and enlightenment about the plight of these animals and the effect they have on the ecosystem.

In addition to these animal havens, there is Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, the Seattle Aquarium, and Woodland Park Zoo. Each of these is more common as far as zoos and/or aquariums go but offer the opportunity to view animals just the same. Also, there is my personal favorite Seattle activity, whale watching. You can either charter a boat or take your child out to Lime Kiln Point State Park to look for these magnificent creatures. Either way, this activity will probably be the highlight of your trip for your child, especially if you happen to see one of these beauties.

If there’s one thing state Sen. Satveer Chaudhary isn’t accustomed to being, it’s vulnerable. Chaudhary, DFL-Fridley, has won five general legislative elections. In 2006, he sailed into a third Senate term by more than 25 percentage points over his Republican opponent.

Adventure – in mighty Himalayas

0

Adventure holiday in India is rightly defined by the word ‘assorted’. India is certainly a mix of landscapes and these diverse places give way to various adventure from water sports, trekking, to winter sports and much more, but most famous of all is Himalaya adventure tour, which itself consist of various sports. It takes you to the lofty mountains and glaciers where one can experience one of the most thrilling experiences ever. This 200 km long stretch of mountain ranges is a layered expanse that marks the border of Indian subcontinent with the Plateau of Tibet. The north eastern zone of the ranges, called as the Trans Himalayan zone is made up of Ladakh and Zanskar, and this region lies at the transition point of Tibet and Indian Sub continent. Pir Panjal and Dhuala Dhar ranges towards the south east, bind together in the snow covered mountains of Garhwal Himalaya. At all these mountain ranges, there are myriad opportunities to indulge in various sports and adventures.

Adventure in Himalaya takes one to Dhula Dhar range for Trekking, to Beas Kund, a glacial lake in Himachal for camping, Kinner Kailash circuit, where one can spot the endangered snow leopards, for challenging trekking and camping, Everest Base Camp, where one trek up to the mighty Himalaya’s peak, but certainly not without prior experience. Other sports that one can indulge in this northern part of India are Trekking in Garjwal, Himachal, Sikkim and Kashmir. While trekking at these places, one comes across panoramic sights of the snow covered peaks of Himalaya, and one can experience living in the lap of Nature with all the serenity and tranquility of the surroundings washing away all the cob webs.

For more adventurous souls, there is river rafting on various gushing rivers where one can unravel the sleeping adventurous spirit inside. There are various river rafting opportunities in the Himalayan region like rafting in Zanskar, one of the coldest inhabited places in India. Here tourists raft on the Zanskar Gorge of Indus River. This place has beautiful thousand feet high walls rising from the river bed on both sides of the river. In Himachal, there are Chenab, Ravi, Satluj and Beas rivers, where one can experience white water rafting. In Sikkim, Pir Panjal Range and the Himalayan Mountain range give way to various rivers like Jhelum, Chenab, Indus, etc where there are numerous opportunities to indulge in various water sports.

Except trekking and river Rafting, other adventure opportunities that are available in an adventure tour package in India are mountain climbing, jeep safari in various national parks, mountain biking, angling or fishing, etc. Besides this one can head out on a bike safari tour through the virgin lands of Leh and Ladakh and beautiful and undulating hills of Himachal Pradesh. It is always fun and adventurous to stay in a camp and gaze at the stars at night while you born fire to get a little bit of warmth in the chilly weather that gives way to enchanting sights. So an adventure tour in India gives you an opportunity to choose from a number of activities and adventures amidst nature that nudge your soul tied in the humdrums of life.

Colorado Family Vacations

0

What makes Colorado family vacations so memorable? Head to one of these three spots to find out.

Estes Park

Estes Park has it all in the way of Colorado family vacations; shopping, horseback riding, golfing, fishing, hiking, and biking. There is no better place to enjoy the beauty nature has to offer. The quaint shopping areas are perfect for spending a day strolling around. The mountains in Estes Park offer an escape unlike any other. Lodging is extensive, with options ranging from bed and breakfast establishments to hostels and camping, as well as plenty of hotels and motels.

Depending on the time of year there are many organized events to participate in. During the summer months there are outdoor concerts and plays. Christmas time offers sleigh rides and snow shoe walks. September is the time of the Longs Peak Scottish Irish Highland Festival. This is an event for everyone to have fun, relax, and experience something new. There are kilts everywhere, jousting, hammer throwing, and authentic Scottish music. And the food is incredible; sweet potato fries, kettle corn, and fresh corn on the cob dipped in melted butter, for starters. So bring your camera and a rain jacket (rain is very likely that time of year) and savor an experience unlike any other.

Glenwood Springs

Centered around a pool fed by a natural hot spring, this is near the top of my list for Colorado family vacations that will leave you reinvigorated and ready to return to the stresses of daily life. The pool takes up three city blocks and includes a water slide, larger main pool, and smaller pools that are kept at a higher temperature. If planning on spending more than a day here you may want to stay at the Hot Springs Lodge since they offer family packages where the hotel rate includes free access to the pools.

Another appealing aspect of Glenwood Springs that makes it the perfect Colorado family vacation is its location in the mountains with caves and trails for exploring. There are cave tours as well as a vapor cave where natural spa treatments can be savored. The whole family will never be bored while taking advantage of the things to do there.

Great Sand Dunes

Come to this national park to experience sand like you have never seen it before, where Colorado family vacations don’t get any better than this. Visitors are able to slide, sled, roll, or ski down the sand dunes. Need I say more? What kid, or adult who has a kid within, would not like to play here? It is truly a playground for the whole family.

In addition to the activities on the sand dunes there are rivers, lakes, and mountains that can provide additional adventures. Just remember your sunscreen and sandals since the sand can become very hot. With kids in tow bring along a large umbrella for shade and plenty of cool water to fight off dehydration. Enjoy!

Although there are many wonderful Colorado family vacations, these three are guaranteed to leave your kids smiling and happy.
