Have you ever spent a night in a hostel?
My two friends and I are 23 years and we intend to go to Edinburgh, Scotland, probably in November. We want to stay in a hostel, but do not know if its safe and clean sleep lol or boring with a bunch of other people in the room. Have you ever spent a night in a hostel? If yes, would you recommend?
Yes, I have stayed in hostels many times.
When I was younger I used to stay in dorms, the larger the better.
The larger dorms are cheaper and they tend to be more quiet, as every one assumes the others want to sleep.
In most hostels you can use the kitchen, often they also provide some meals, specially the HI or YHA hostels (different abbreviations for the same thing, as far as I know.) I always found that joining in the dinner in the hostel was as cheap as doing my own cooking and much more fun.
Hostels have to be clean, they get reviews too nowadays, and inspections by health and safety inspectors.
Read the reviews on sites like hostelworld and hostelbookers (or so,) search for hostel and the name of the town you want to go and those sites will pop up. You can book through them, easy to do, or contact the hostel direct, often you do not need to pay before arriving when you contact the hostel direct. It might even be cheaper.
