Is there a ferry or cheap (ish) way to Tenerife in Morocco?
I really want to go to Morocco, and we’re going to Tenerife in September and I hope there is a chance that I can visit from there. Ideas? The flights are expensive!
There is a way to do it, but it’s a bit of a palaver. The only ferry that connects the Canary Islands with Morocco is a relatively new service operated by the company Naviera Armas.
Since December, last year, they have sailed between Puerto del Rosario on the island of Fuerteventura to the small Moroccan port of Tarfaya, about 335 miles from Agadir. Sailings are 1:30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Return journeys are Mondays, Fridays and Sundays at 8am and 12 noon. The price, one way, is about 49 euros.
So, you first have to catch a ferry from Tenerife to Fuerteventura, then catch the connecting one on to Morocco. Naviera Armas also does a route between Tenerife and Fuerteventura, as does one other company and full details of these can be found on this page of my website:
