Question: Has anyone been on diamond or sapphire princess cruise ship to alaska?
I’m going on a cruise to alaska and we were looking at the prices of the balcony room’s and we were wondering why the rooms towards the front are way cheaper. Is there something wrong with them??? Does anybody know and can help

I have been to cruises many many times, every time I stayed in the inside stateroom. Once the Master of Ceremony said that the air you breathe in and out are very expensive in the stateroom with a balcony. How often you use the balcony? During day time you will be very busy with the activities, What is the use of the balcony at night time? The only time is to see the ship berthing. If you stay on the other side (or the starboard side) you cannot see it. There is nothing wrong with the rooms in the front and at the back. Only on the rough seas, you will notice the ups and downs are greater than the middle. Don’t worry, Enjoy you cruise. I had been to Alaska twice, I like it that is why I go again.
I’ve sailed Sapphire Princess to Alaska, Northbound, Voyage of the Glaciers. Nothing is wrong with the cabins themselves, it is the location (and greater chance for ‘rocking’) that makes them less expensive. As a general rule, the lower on the ship, the cheaper the cabin, too.
Sapphire is a fabulous ship, beautiful, and huge! The itinerary is one of the best, my opinion, as I love Glacier Bay.
We are sailing again this year (I have sailed Celebrity Mercury, Carnival Spirit, Sapphire Princess all in Alaska) out of Seattle on the Star Princess. We tend to go for the inside cabins now. There are always great places to go on deck, and we use the savings on excursions.
A great site for cruise information… http://www.cruisecritic.com The message boards there are broken down into many sections, including an Alaska board and Roll Calls which will be specific to your ship and date of sailing.
Have fun!
