Question: I would like suggestions for an affordable family vacation for 5?
I would really like to take a family vacation this year, but we are financially low (gotta love gas prices). I live in the NorthEast and have a 4yr old, 5 y.o, and 16 y.o. We like the beach, theme parks, and outdoor activities. Any suggestions for something fun and economical?

You should go to a theme park. Maybe not a giant theme park like Disney world but like a lesser known one. Search on yahoo and look up theme parks in closer to you so that you will save on gas. Then, go on priceline.com and name your price for a hotel. I save a lot of money through priceline.

If you’re concerned about fuel prices, try this one:
http://www.gasbuddy.com/ the have up to date information on fuel prices every where. We used them on the way west last year and saved $ 150.

I’d like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it’s hard to understand why people don’t stay home.
Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere – anywhere but home.

I’m an outdoor person so the first thing that came to mind was camping. You can buy a really nice tent for not a lot of money now days. Then head for a state park with a nice lake. Google state parks for your state and you will get a list to choose from.
