Alaska Cruise Summer 2009?
Question: Alaska Cruise Summer 2009?
Hi, me and my family are thinking to go a cruise to Alaska. We live in So cal and apparenly there is no departure port around so cal. I was wondering if its better to fly to nearest port and go from there or do they usually come with a package? How do i get most out of the cruise? Because this is our first time! Thanks

You can come to San Francisco or Seattle to catch the ship to go to Alaska. Their is one leaving on Sept 1 out of SF on a 10 day run if The name of the ship is the Sea Princess if your interested. Are you sure that San Pedro or Long Beach don’t offer Alaska cruises?
We went on our first cruise ever last Sept. to Alaska on NCL’s “Pearl”, a very new ship, and it was great! It left out of Seattle. I think you have to find your own way there, but from SoCal it isn’t a long journey. Be sure to get a balcony room so you’ll have a view and a bit more room than a stuffy inside room. Leave the cellphones and laptops behind and you’ll be in a whole new world. NCL has something called “freestyle cruising”, which is nice because you can eat whenever you want and with whoever you want, unlike most other cruise lines. Also take some onshore excursions when you’re in port, even though some can get pretty pricey. Do it anyway! There are lots of memories in the entire experience, so take a camera or two. Also take along some Dramamine or Bonine in case someone gets a bit seasick. It works great, I can tell you. Check out http://www.NCL.com and you can find out what cruises are coming up and where they depart from and anything else you’ll need to know. There are some great deals out there lately, so go for it and have a blast!
