The best and cheapest company is the one between your ears. Grab a good guidebook designed for independent travel (Rough Guide, Let’s Go, Lonely Planet,…) and start planning.
I can assure you you’ll come home with a deep sense of accomplishment and pride in yourself, plus you’ll be able to travel longer and further on your own. Having travelled abroad without being attached to the skirts of a guide will make you more interesting to an employer as it says something about your maturity, organisatory skills and ability to connect with people.

On the other hand STA travel (Google) is an agency dedicated to student travel and has an international presence. They often have prices to match a student budget.
You will need to have an ISIC card and current student ID to be eligible. They are also present on most campuses throughout the world.
