Is it safe to travel to Kenya for a vacation?

Question: Is it safe to travel to Kenya for a vacation?
I am thinking of traveling to Kenya from Dec. 28 – Jan. 4, 2010.

I will be spending most of my time in Mombasa.

Can anyone tell me if this is a safe time to visit? I am worried about the recent things I’ve heard on the news and would rather not take a chance… can anyone shed some light on this?

Hello. I don’t know what recent things you have heard but Kenya is very safe at the moment. The only time there was a problem in Kenya was in January 2008 when there was Post Election Violence. Mombasa is very safe and a great holiday get away with some great places to visit.

Be smart and you should be just fine. Currently there is no political unrest, though that could change at any moment. Crime is rampant, but by paying attention to your surroundings and not doing anything stupid you should be o.k.

Its 100% safe trust me. You’ll <3 it there. What happened in 2007-early2008 ended long ago and I don’t know why the media is making such a big deal out of it. The people there are so friendly I’d love to go back there soon..,

hi..ya it’s safe now..but try visiting only cities like nairobi,mombasa..dont go to villages or rural place..dont roam on the roads after 7pm..enjoy ur stay in kenya..

You need not worry about your security in Kenya especially along the Kenyan coast your place of interest. We have the Kenya tourist police unit on patrol notwithstanding the regular police and other agencies tasked with your security.

Kenya is and ideal vacation destination to visit, You can do a skydiving, snookering as well as taking short excursion to the historic town of Mombasa.
deep sea diving is another event you don’t wanna miss or you can just decide to be very lazy and spend you time sunbathing….. its fun too.
