Any opinions on Park City Mountain Resort in Utah?

Question: Any opinions on Park City Mountain Resort in Utah?
I have been offered a job there and am considering moving there. How are the skiing/snowboarding conditions? What’s the atmosphere like of the city and the resort?

It’s absolutely beautiful! Awesome skiing and snowboarding conditions, in fact a few Olympic contenders have come from there. Then there’s always the Sundance film festival. It’s such a quaint little town, away from the big city, but close enough it’s not a long drive. Many people have vacations homes there, so that must tell you something. Be warned though, it’s not the cheapest place to live because it’s such a desirable destination.

I’m jealous. Haven’t been there in a few years, but it was a nice town. Deer Valley and The Canyons are also very close.

Park City? WOW! It’s a great place to work. There are quite a bit of foreign exchange students there (A lot from South America) for the winter. It’s very young and there is a ton of things to do there. Park City Resort, in my opinion, doesn’t have the best snowboarding but there are a few places within walking distance that does. The town of Park City is filled with good food, bars and shopping. Cost of living might be high but Salt Lake City is only 30 minutes away. Park City’s atmosphere ranges from a young party crowd to a 30-ish yuppie crowd. Definitely a cool vibe. If you move up there can I stay with you for a couple of nights? :)

The skiing conditions are great. Utah has some of the best skiing conditions in the country and PCMR is a great place to be at. There is a ton of varied terrain, and if you know where to go, you can find freshies for a couple of days after a big storm. Spring skiing…can’t be beat in Utah. The Cottonwood’s ski areas (up big and little cottonwood canyon) hold their snow and get a bit more snow just because they are higher and are dead end canyons, but the skiing in park city is still awesome. Plus, there are 3 areas to be at literally right there, and the cottonwoods are only about a 30 minute drive. It is definately worth it.
Park City is a ski town. Everyone drives around in Subaru’s and businesses have been known to close on powder days. Unlike Colorado Resorts, Park City is only 15 minutes from Salt Lake, so if you get bored in Park City ever you can just jump down to Salt Lake. Park City itself has a pretty good nightlife during the ski season, Sundance goes on in January and Park City is packed with celebs, but you have to remember that you are in Utah, and that there are consequences to that. However, if you like to ski and ride, you really can’t beat a place that has a good season until easter.

It is one of my favorite places in the country to ski. My mom has skied in Austria, and she thinks Park City it is almost as good. You would be a fool not to move there.

I haven’t been here as long as Ruun, I moved to Salt Lake City five years ago, and ski at Alta.

I’ve heard Park City is a decent enough resort. To live in Park City requires quite a bit of money for housing, or the commute from Salt Lake is about 30 minutes in good weather. If you are an employee of the resort, you may get some type of employee lodging…I know Alta offers that for their people.

Utah is a decent enough place…if you have kids though, think real hard about the education stuff. I’m a teacher here…and the schools are underfunded and overcrowded.

You will love it! I am from Salt Lake City and I go to Park City all the time to ski. It’s some of the best skiing around, and it is by far the best in terms of social availability after you’re done skiing. You can literally ski right to Main Street and there’s a lift there to get you back to the slopes.
