Question: I want to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2010. Can you recommend a tour operator that is reliable and safe?
I am not an experienced climber or hiker, but am in excellent cardiovascular health. I look forward to the challenge and the views. I currently live in Northern California and can train periodically at high altitudes. Right now I am aware of REI. Do you know of others?

TripAdvisor.com is great for any kind of trip. I think you might want to know that it’s a very, very dangerous trip. The weather up there is freakish sometimes and people literally get blown off the top and fall all the way down so I understand why you ask about safety. You probably already know a lot about the dangers though. It’s got to be a terrific view from the top and it must be very rearding to say that you have climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro. Seriously though I recomend Trip Advisor . com.
