Question: Private health insurance that works worldwide.?
I am searching for a private full cover health insurance that works worldwide. I am living in Japan right now, but I would like to also be covered and eligible for medical treatment in Europe, especially in my homecountry Germany. All German health insurance companies that I know don’t accept people that are not working and living in Germany.
I have heard, that there is one insurance company in Germany, that accepts people wo reside and work in another country than Germany, even outside of Europe.
Also somebody once told me about an insurance company in Great Britain. Does anybody know the names of such health insurance companies?
Even though I am living and working in Japan, I would like to be covered in Germany, which seens to be difficult as I am not employed there.

I was having the same dilemma as I looked for insurance to cover me internationally on my honeymoon. Blue cross blue Shield covers internationally, but you can also google travel health insurance, while these plans will probably be short-term, you can go to the companies main website and they may cover long-term as well.
I’ve checked around and I have found the exact solution for you. The policy will cover you anywhere you go including Japan and Germany with no special exceptions for either of those countries. It provides coverage for doctors, hospitals, and prescriptions and you can obtain care from any provider you choose. For more details, do the following:
1. go to http://www.wavehelp.com/travel-medical/index.htm
2. click on the IMG logo on the far right (Global Plans)
3. on the new page, fill in the information about your
age,
sex,
country of citizenship (pick Germany – not Japan),
dates of coverage (BE SURE THE DATES SPAN AT LEAST ONE YEAR) and
area of coverage ( you want “worldwide”) and
click “continue” at the bottom of the page
4. that will pull up a table of one-year rates for each of the available deductibles – pick a rate and click on that rate
5. on the next page, fill in the detailed information and you can make your purchase conveniently right on-line.
