Which to skip on china trip cuz of time. Yangtze river cruise(3dys), Hong Kong(out of way) Guilin(Li river) ?
5Question: Which to skip on china trip cuz of time. Yangtze river cruise(3dys), Hong Kong(out of way) Guilin(Li river) ?
We’re already going to Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an. Can only go to 2 of the 3(Guiling/yangshuo, hong kong, yangtze cruise from yaching to chongqing) Guilin seems to be a top tourist attraction with the Li river cruise(4 hours) and Yangshuo not too far away that has many natural attractions(rice paddy fields, mountains), hong kong i left out at first but friends wanna go. Yangtze river cruise seems least exciting but 3rd longest river in the world and 3 gorges dam is one of engineering wonders.

Yangtze river, i would miss out on. The amount of scum & slim that has piled up behind the 3 gorges dam over the years is ridiculous, it’s really affected the nature and beauty. The Guilin is a proper wonder, fabulous.
Lost in the Forest Wandering Will’s Adventures in South America
0In this book we meet once again “Wandering Will”, one of Ballantyne’s perpetual heroes. They are on a touristic cruise in the eastern Pacific, when the second mate, Griffin, eggs on some of the seamen to mutiny and take over the ship. The captain and some of the senior officers are cast off in a ship’s dinghy to survive however they can, while Will and others of his party are retained on board the “Rover”, because of their medical knowledge, which Griffin believes might one day come in useful. They visit a small island to restock the larder, and then head for the mainland of South America. On arriving a party goes ashore, including our heroes, landing through heavy surf. Everyone made it to shore, but Griffin touches ground on quicksand, and suddenly disappears from sight, never to be seen again. At this point our heroes manage to give the mutineers the slip, and disappear into the forest. Unfortunately they become disorientated, so their original plan of regaining the coast and then travelling northward along it until they should come to some major settlement had to be abandoned. Hence the title of the book.
Thereafter we are given an interesting tour of the Andes, very well written and entertaining. Eventually our heroes find a way to where they can take ship for England.

As an Expat contract worker in Norway, can I choose not to avail of any Health Insurances.?
2Question: As an Expat contract worker in Norway, can I choose not to avail of any Health Insurances.?
In my first year working here in Norway as a consultant engineer, I was not required to pay for any Health Insurances by my employment agency. When my contract ended, I went back to my home country.
This is now my second time working here in Norway, after six months off.
I am now with a new employment agency, and I am bothered by this new system. According to my new agency, I need to pay for my Health Premiums, in which I did not choose to have.
My friends who are also working in Norway, in another agency aren’t required to pay for any Health Insurances.
As an Expat contract worker in Norway, can I choose not to avail of any Health Insurances. Does the Norwegian Law say anything about this?
Is National Health Insurance covered by my tax payments?

You can get expat health insurance. I’m not sure about Norwegian Labor Laws and what your employer provides for you or makes you pay for, but I’m sure there are some stipulations. I recommend going with BlueCrossBlueShield Expat Health Insurance. They have comprehensive health plans designed for people who are not based Stateside(I’m assuming you are an American). You can check it out on their website. I am sure you can opt out of their health insurance, but be prepared to face difficulties in doing so. It can cause problems for foreign citizens in the local health care system. There could be cultural and language barriers, not to mention what your company policy says about reimbursement should (heaven forbid) you get injured and only be covered under your own health plan. In the meantime, I would look up Labor Laws in Norway on the internet. You can start with a Dogpile Labor Law search in Google. Good luck.

I am not sure. However, since you brought up this question I thought I should tell you. With all of the end of the world junk out there with the Mayan calendar and stuff, scientists all over the world have postulated that the Ross Ice Shelf is overdue to break off. The nearest prediction they will make is that it will occur sometime in the year 2012. If/when this happens it will create the largest iceberg in the history of modern human kind. 1500 square miles in diameter and over two miles thick. When it melts all of the world’s oceans and rivers will rise a minimum of 47 feet. Which will pretty much end life as we know it everywhere. So see the Antarctic while you have the chance.

Burt Wolf: Great River Cruises of Europe
0Join Burt on six magical European cruises! The Rhine is one of the world’s great rivers, starting in the Swiss Alps and dumping into the North Sea. Join Burt as he takes a cruise along the Rhine from Amsterdam to Basel. The Danube River is the second longest river in Europe after the Volga. Burt sets sail on this magical river as he leaves from Budapest and stops along the way in Bratislava, Vienna, Durnstein, Grein, Linz and Passau. Provence and the French Riviera are filled with warm weather, intense sunlight and magnificent scenery. The best way to see the region is on a cruise on the Rhone River, and Burt shows you all the stops on his tour from Tournon to Nice. No trip to France would be complete without a visit to Paris, and Burt travels down the Seine and catches all the sights from the Eiffel Tower to the Musee D’Orsay. For thousands of years the best way to get around Europe was on a river boat. As a result many of the great cities of Europe were built on the banks of rivers. Burt travels to many of Europe s grandest cities in Holland and Belgium including Amsterdam, Schoonhoven, Dordrecht, Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent and Bruges.

Army spouses … what is the recruiter NOT telling my husband?
20Question: Army spouses … what is the recruiter NOT telling my husband?
He is 36, a firefighter and a medic. He is frustrated with his job / life and now thinks he should enlist. First, it was reserves, now he is being pushed for active duty by the recruiter. I do not trust the recruiter, it sounds like a load of BS to me.
They claim that wages earned in the Army are tax free, moving costs are paid for, medical insurance is free for the family and he would make ~$ 1050/ month housing allowance to pay our mortgage and ~$ 1450 a month pay. He thinks this is a good deal. They have told him he could be in Phyc. Ops, then something called 61Whiskey (some sort of medevac) and the latest is that he could get a Phy. Asst. degree in two yrs, with a 4 yr. commitment tto active duty! (Masters in civilian world.)
They want him to be driven to MEPS by a recruiter Friday night, test all day Sat. and sign more papers. I think this stinks and I resent not being given a say in this. I think he is being lied to and will be trapped into something he hates. Insight please???
I am not trying to insult or take anything away from those who are serving in our Military. I am just upset because I have two kids, 3 dogs, a house …. and I am facing having to do everything alone while my husband goes off to find himself. I am working on my teaching certification and would like to have us both settled in careers. I have yet to see the honest financial benefit of enlistment. Is it noble … yes. I just think that he is looking at this with rose colored glasses. I do not think it is worth my kids loosing their father to put our lives in the hands of some recruiter trying to meet a quota. I also read that the divorce rate is 78%. Is this really worth doing?
Please only answer if you have first hand knowledge.
Thank you!!
