What is the safest city in South Africa for white people to visit?

Capetown for sure. But it is NOT safe. No place in South Africa is. I lived there for 5 years and a large amount things happend to us and people we know. The worst being my Grandad being fatally shot in a car jacking when I was a little girl and my Grandma who also was in the car at the time was shot in the shoulder while escaping out the door. I don’t remember my Grandad but it’s sad to see my Nans eyes whenever I mention him. Within a 2 weeks within arriving in Jo-burg my Dad was robbed at gunpoint by a begger while going to grab a newspaper at the local shop. My Mum while out at dinner one night with women from work got caught in the middle of an armed robbery and witnessed the women behind the counter get shot twice in the head. She still shudders at the thought. My Father had been out drinking one night when he foolishly got behind the wheel of the car. He arrived home but because of his state he forgot to shut the security gate and 3 armed men ran in and held him at gunpoint in the car in the garage and asked if there was anyone inside the house. Luckily he said no (I was sleeping at the time). My scairest experiance was just before we left South Africa. We were at a set of robots (traffic lights) and a man came charging at us with a pistol and attempted to smash the window. We drove off and thank god he didn’t shoot at us. A young student teacher at my old school was stabbed in the eye with a pencil sharpener and at my cousin’s school two boys got into a fight and as a result one was fatally stabbed. My best friend’s older sister (who I never met) had a slumber party with all her girlfriends. The jelous x boyfriend of one of the girls charged in and shot her sister and three friends dead. My friend is still traumatised by witnessing it and luckily have since moved to Ireland. Don’t get me wrong, South Africa is a beautiful country but please do be careful. What you’re use to in Christchurch would be the occasional stabbing or murder but in a city like Capetown (one of the safest in SA) there are at least 12 murders a day and countless shootings, car jackings, stabbings, etc. Most SAFFAS say there are 54 murders a day on av. I was reading the other day that it is now at 89 a day. A grim statistic the people of SA are facing. Not everyone from SA would have experianced what I have, but it just goes to show you some of the stuff that can happen there. I’m glad to be out of SA. God bless Auckland, God defend New Zealand and have a safe trip and a safe journey home =)

Safety tips: do NOT go out at night full stop. If you’re driving at night do NOT stop at robots but slow down to look for traffic and drive. Your wife shouldn’t carry around her handbag or it WILL be snatched. Don’t wear jellewry around the streets. Don’t carry around too much money. If there is a empty place like a park or beach do not go into it.
