Question: Why are hotels in Washington DC so expensive during April 26 – 29?
Hi, I am visiting DC for 3 nights from April 26 – April 29. The price of hotels during this time are very expensive but the 3 days before or the 3 days after are cheaper. Any reason?

Hotel prices are usually highest during the week because most of the hotel guests on those days are business people traveling for work and they are not as flexible with their travel dates and most are paying for their hotel on the company’s dime, they are willing to pay more for their hotel rooms. Tourists are more price sensitive and so hotels offer cheaper rates when most of the guests are going to be tourists.
The hotels in DC are geared towards business and federal employee per diem travel, so the rooms rates are significantly higher Monday – Thursday. Then they drop off just as dramatically over the weekends, as the rooms are now empty and they need to fill them, even if it’s a reduced rate.
