Question: Boston is so pricey for hotels , need help please.?
I have been looking at going to Boston in November, which I thought would be off season, but damn are they pricey. I havent found a resonably priced hotel. Looking fo rang of 50-100/night for family with 7 year old children. I want to be close to attractions and in a decent area. Any suggestions or do i have to end up sleeping in my minivan.. ??? Thank you

Honestly you won’t find anything that cheap right in the city. You could stay a little out of the city, but near the train to save some money. There is a Hampton Inn in Cambridge which is really nice, and affordable. It’s directly across the street from the Green Line of the train, and is in a good area, etc. But, it’s not near anything really other than the train. It’s about a 5-10 minute walk from the Museum of Science and a local shopping mall. But the train can take you anywhere, and you’ll save money. Even then, it’ll probably be around $ 100. Check websites like www.travelocity.com or www.priceline.com for good deals.

Try this link for the Chandler Inn. Prices start at $ 105. Lots of reviews are detailed. Read and judge for yourself if your family can live with the minuses for your stay.

As has already been mentioned, the mid $ 200′s is considered a reasonably priced hotel here in Boston. Frequently tho, Hotels.com or other similar sites offer discounted prices. It’s certainly worth checking into, if you have your specific dates.

Marriott Burlington was gross when stayed there.

Try the hotels in Waltham MA, hilton is there and Hyatt, right off the highway Both nice hotels with pools, free parking.

The Hilton Double tree there does have weekend packages. Become a member of their club, you may get a good deal on line. Also call the hotel directly, they may have better rates / packages when you call. Bargin with them.

Fast to Alewife T station, Mass Pike and Burlington Mall.

unfortunately, i work in the hospitality industry in boston and you will never find a rate that low. you may be able to find the low $ 100′s, but in december and january. if you are looking for a rate that low, you are going to have to have a car to drive into the city. look north in the woburn/wilmington area, or anything near the 128 highway. good luck!

Boston has great public transport. There’s very little need to stay in the city and it’s much cheaper to stay outside the city. Regardless of what you choose to do, I would recommend bidding on a room through Priceline.com. I’ve saved literally $ 100′s of dollars using it.

Try boston.craigslist.org for a temporary apartment. There are a lot of students who are willing to rent out there apartment if they are traveling and it would be in your price range. The other options would unfortunately be in unsafe areas for families and I would not recommend them. Sometimes hotels.com has amazing deals but you need to check the website for price changes often! Try Cambridge, MA as well. These hotels get busy during commencement time in the Spring but often have a hard time in the Fall/Winter time. This area offers subway transportation and is merely minutes to the City.

You could look into staying near the Airport which is right outside Boston in East Boston, or you could try looking in Revere, MA it is right out side of Boston and is affordable also, and Boston is very accessible from there, the MBTA (train and buses) and highway are close to the hotels I know there.

$ 50-$ 100 is not considered reasonably priced for a hotel in Boston. It’s more like $ 200-$ 250 for a reasonably priced hotel. Try the Kimpton hotel group – I believe the Nine Zero hotel is reasonably priced, pet friendly, and close to many attractions.

Try the Winthrop Arms Hotel, in Winthrop which is a nice seaside town 2 miles east of Boston. The hotel is really nice, recently renovated and rooms were $ 89/night for a two-bed suite the last time I stayed there (which was in 2001). Take a look at their website (http://www.winthroparms.com) which also includes directions to the hotel by car. If you need directions by public transportation, send out another blog and I’ll point you in the right way.

I’ve stayed at the Marriott Burlington for $ 89 a night in late October. The hotel is in a business park convenient to I-95. The Burlington Mall is 5 minutes away for shopping and dining options.

You can drive from that hotel to the Alewife T-station in about 15 minutes. You’re also close to Lexington and Concord. Avoid driving into downtown Boston if you can help it.
