Question: Have you cruised around South America? Did you get motion sickness (seasick)?
I’m going to the South America Cruise with my parents next March. I heard that the sea is very rough around Cape Horn. Is that true? or is it only for the very few people?

You can get seasick anywhere. It will depend on the size of the ship as well as the size of the waves that affect it. Cape Horn can be rough as its where the two oceans meet. Nevertheless, chances are you will probably get sick prior to that since it will take a few days of sailing until you get there.
Take some seasick medicine and you should be OK.
We didn’t cruise around South America, but we cruised from Punta Arenas, Chile through the Straits of Magellan and around Cape Horn…. I was fine in the Straits, but I did get motion sick when we got past Cape Horn and into Drake’s Passage… but then, I always say I get seasick in the bathtub!
About a third of the people on our ship got seasick. If you are susceptible to motion sickness, you should take Dramamine or generic meclizine HCL 25 mg. with you and/or consider getting a prescription for scopolamine patches. No matter what, enjoy yourself…. it’s an incredible adventure, and I’d go again in a heartbeat! Happy travels… even if you don’t travel the world… just remember that life is a journey… embrace and enjoy it! http://www.mousetourstravels.com
