Question: What is the best route to becoming a flight nurse?
i’m in school now working on my EMT-B. hope to have it completed this december (and start working as a volunteer)…a paramedic by spring of ’11…with plans of doing a fast-track program and getting my RN by spring of ’12. My final goal when all is said and done is flight nurse…any additional suggestions??

Keep on with the program you are on. You are heading the right direction.
Look into the possibility of joining one of the Military branches *after* you have the RN degree as a way to get the Flight Nurse training and be paid while earning it.
You will need some ICU experience as a flight nurse more than you will need the EMT training, but get it anyhow. It has been my experience that very few nurses actually know much about basic first aid, splinting, stopping bleeding, evacuation of injured people, etc.
