Question: Short-term health insurance for foreign visitors to the US?
Most US tour companies that offer tours of Europe offer a Trip Insurance plan. In addition to covering any costs caused by cancellation or delay in the tour, these plans will also cover the costs of any emergency health care during the tour (i.e. broken leg, emergency appendectomy, etc.).
Suppose someone from a foreign country wants to visit the US for 3-4 weeks, but he or she is not coming as part of an organized tour. Is there any sort of short-term health insurance plan that they can purchase from their airline or from an independent company that would cover health emergencies that come up during the trip to the US?

alot of places….private insurance company’s will let you purchase travelers insurance for trips….if you have ever seen that Michael Moore movie Sicko, they show a canadian couple buying travelers insurance to come to the US to visit their family for a couple weeks…
just check around with local insurance agencies.

Question: Where are the vacation specials in Gatlinburg attached to timeshare presentations?
My husband and I were talking to some couples that seem to vacation on a normal basis, at least once or twice a year. I know that timeshare presentations will sometimes offer a great discount if you attend a presentation. I have toured WestGate in Florida before…and they are sold out in Gatlinburg for the dates that I am looking for. Does anyone know of any other resorts that offer a discounted vacation special if you attend their 90 minute presentation (that is rarely ever 90 minutes, lol!) If you know of some, I would appreciate a point in the right direction.

You can check out the RCI website to see which timeshare resorts are in Gatlinburg. You can call them directly and ask for their sales department. See if they have any sales promotions going on.
Remember that the presentations are designed to persuade non-buyers into buyers of timeshares. What you originally intend as a “free vacation” may turn into a very costly timeshare contract. If you’re going to buy, remember that their is a timeshare resale market.

I want to get a little sailing dinghy or a Hobie Wave to cruise around the marina.. Do I need to get a full-blown asa sailing license? What’s the best way to learn? The full-blown license (lessons) cost $ 600.. Is there an alternative to a simpler license or to learn?

don’t think you need a license to sail! join a yacht club and take some sailing lessons! both boats you described are small enough you could just learn on your own if you have some common sense and some boating skills. get a book and learn! sailing is a great hobby/sport!
