Mummy swimming at Extended Stay Deluxe near the Disney Marketplace are by Buena Vista in Florida. A really nice place and the Manager Brian took very good care of us. Our room was perfect, clean, by the pool, nice view, clean pots and pans, lavendar pastel decor, fragrant and aromatic, right next to everything Disney and all the I-drive shopping, sightseeing, touristy things, flea markets, Walmart, Hotels, highways, restaurants and most importantly, House of Spices and Bombay Bazaar. I cooked Indian fish everyday and we had samosas, idli dosa at Joseph’s at Apna Bazaar and also went to Boston Lobster feast. Love visiting Orlando. This Deluxe hotel was the second hotel that we transferred to after an awful experience at the regular Extended Stay in Orlando. That is where the cockroach appeared in our room, the remote didn’t work, didn’t have enough pots to cook in the evening, dirty pillows, sofa covers torn and covered with hair. The housekeeping manager was very nice, cleaned up right away and very honest with me about the laundry situation. Not so much, the night girl at front desk. I went to ask her for battery for the remote and she responded with, “didn’t you come by before for batteries?” Very stupid girl. Gave me another remote with no batteries. Said no housekeeping, no more pillows, and again “didn’t you come get pillows this morning too.” Really incredibly stupid girl. In 1954, one of Britain’s then numerous aircraft manufacturers, Fairey Aviation, produced a quite remarkable aircraft. It went by the less than awe-inspiring name of Fairey FD.2. The aircraft was 51 feet 71/2 inches in length with a 26 feet 10 inch wingspan. The nose was highly pointed and could be “drooped” to give the pilot a better view during landings and take-off. This was the first time this technique had ever been used and was later incorporated in the design of Concorde. Its first supersonic flight took place on 28 October 1955 when it was discovered that the FD.2 could easily exceed Mach 1 without use of reheat. The following month it reached 1028 mph at 30000 feet. That was well above the then current World Speed Record, set by a USAF F-100C, Super Sabre of 822.26 mph. A decision was taken by the test flight team to go for an attempt on the World Record, however the Government was not at all supportive. Fairey had to rent the FD.2 back from the RAF, hire all the measuring equipment from RAE Farnborough and take out accident insurance for the aircraft. On 10 March 1956 FD.2 WG 774 took off from RAE Boscombe Down with Peter Twiss at the controls and flew a figure of eight course along the South Coast of England. On the sixth circuit the FD.2 reached 1132 mph, creating the World’s first four-figure Air Speed record.
