Question: How much does it cost to maintain a sailboat?
We’d like to know how much it would cost for all the indirect costs of owning a 20-40 foot sailboat/yacht… such as:
- Insurance
- Docking fees (on the East Coast)
- Maintenance
- Other
If we had 100K to spend, what size could we reasonably afford? We’d be looking for used, not new.

I don’t know. I belong to a sailing club, so the members take care of the boats for a discount on the annual membership fee.
After my first season I decided that buying a sailboat isn’t as cost effective as belonging to a club.
