Question: Where can I get a hatbox?
I will be going to a wedding and I have a nice light colored fedora that goes with my suit. I will be flying and I want to check my luggage, hat and all. I don’t want my hat to get squashed, so I am looking for a hatbox. Not a vintage, or antique, just a hatbox. If it used or older that is ok. But luggage places don’t have it and eBay has a very limited selection, most of which are sold as antique or vintage. I am just looking for a nice sturdy piece of luggage that will fit in my suitcase and protect my hat?
I know people don’t wear hats so much anymore, but can’t I still find a hatbox for a mens fedora?

Debenhams and M&S supply them with hats but they are quite large i.e. wouldn’t fit in luggage. Have you considered just getting an ordinary box from the post office or IKEA etc and packing it with tissue paper?

I shall be staying @ the Grand Luxxe in Nuevo vallarta and then going toRancho Banderas Vacation Villas in Punta Mita. I don’t know if I should rent a car or go by taxi

It’s about a 20 minute drive … not sure how unsafe that could be. It’s usually suggested not to drive at night for even short trips unless you know your way around

Question: How do I get excess baggage cheapest to Germany?
I have been in the UK for an exchange year, now I will go back to Germany in June – and of course there are a lot of things I’d like to take with me – how can I do this in the best and cheapest way? I will have approx. 50kg at least – parcels or excess baggage shipping? Or any other solutions? Thank you for answering!

your books will be heaviest – I’d go for parcels! I did with my books and other paper stuff when I moved from Belgium to Ireland, it’s usually the heaviest especially if you have a lot of it.
Either that or take it in two times – leave some stuff with a friend and return to UK for a weekend with an empty suitcase to pick up the rest.
You could also combine: send paper by post and take the rest in two turns – you’ll also have an excuse for a visit back there if you have some stuff left back there to pick up!
Excess bagage is to be avoided – it cost a lot, and if the flight’s fully booked, the airline might not even allow it even if you pay the fee for it. You might be able to have more bagage allowance on “business class” tickets depending on the airline, but that’s pricey too so it might be cheaper to go back again than to take it all with business tickets.
One last and final option is to have a friend or family member come over without much bagage (hand luggage at most) and have them take some of your stuff back as “their” luggage.

Question: Is There Cheap Hotels Near The Los Angeles Convention Center?
I am trying to get a room for my cousin and I for Anime Expo 2009, which is July 2 – July 5. I wanted to know if there were any cheap hotels or motels near the Los Angeles Convention Center. Also, my cousin is 13, is that considered child or adult when booking a hotel? The quality of the hotel is not important to me, just the price. I tried getting the Holiday Inn near the Convention Center but it’s fully book for the dates that I wanted.

Convention Center area is a booming, super-fancy new section, featuring Staples Center, LA Live Entertainment Complex, and expensive Ritz-Cartlton and Marriott hotels.
But, if you venture even a block or two east, west, or south from there, you get into very tough areas. Going north into downtown is not as bad, and that is where the Holiday Inn and the more expensive Hotel Figueroa (939 S. Figueroa St., LA 90015, 800-421-9092, http://www.figueroahotel.com ) are located. Continuing north, expecially north-east, you will find poor-quality hotels, until you get to Seventh St, where it gets fancy again (Hyatt is on 7th, part of Macy’s Plaza, and the Wilshire Grand Hotel, formerly the LA Hilton).
There really are no in between hotels – flea bag or ritzy.

Question: Niagara Falls Hotels?
I have been looking for many hours for the best hotel in Niagara Falls and I have found a few resource websites http://www.canadianniagarahotels.com and http://www.niagarafallsniagarafalls.com these seem to be the most informative and my question is out of all the hotels listed on these websites which hotel would you recommend that we stay at. It seems as though the Embassy Suite is a popular choice and so is the Hilton.

If you’re going to the Decatur campus you can look at “The Clarion” in Decatur, Ga. Last time I checked they had units going for $ 580

Question: Anyone know the name of a hotel in Palm Springs with individual swimming pools?
I stayed at a hotel / inexpensive resort in Palm Springs a couple years ago. Each ‘room’ was like an apartment. The one we stayed in had a loft and its own back yard with grill, private swimming pool and jacuzzi. It’s off the main strip on a nice chunk of land. Although it had a spa, public pool, tennis courts and (I think) golf course, it was not really a resort because it was reasonably priced and seemed slightly run-down. I want to stay there again but can’t remember the name. Just hopeing that this sounds familiar to someone else who has a better memory.
