Question: Is it safe to drive from Nuevo Vallarta toPunta Mita Mexico?
I shall be staying @ the Grand Luxxe in Nuevo vallarta and then going toRancho Banderas Vacation Villas in Punta Mita. I don’t know if I should rent a car or go by taxi

It’s about a 20 minute drive … not sure how unsafe that could be. It’s usually suggested not to drive at night for even short trips unless you know your way around
One is always safer in a Taxi. It is not Dangerous in and around P.V. There has Not been much Cartel related violence of late. A couple Canadians were executed there and it turned out they had criminal convictions and Drug records and were involved with the wrong people.
Several years ago the Felix cartel targeted El Chapo. Both Felix brothers are dead , one of which was killed by the Police when he pulled a gun on a few cops. Arrianno is dead and the third brother Rodolfo or Ronaldo is incarcerated. El Chapo is not on the move and is Mexico`s most wanted.
I would not hesitate to book PV for a Vacation and in fact I have friends there now.
You could probably rent a car safley but I would take a cab.
Your ride is 46 km ( 28 Miles ) and a one hour drive and should cost 300 Pesos.
