Question: San Francisco Hotels – Which ones are near the nightlife and shops?
We’re going in September (2 or 3 guys) staying for a couple of nights as part of our road trip, looking for hotels that are fairly near bars and clubs (hetero) and shops too.

Thanks!!!

Union Square is probably the best place to stay, because it is centrally located with lots of public transportation options and within walking distance of most of the tourist areas. There are lots of good restaurants, shops, theaters and clubs in the Union Square area. The downside being that parking in that area will be expensive as most hotels charge $ 25 or more for daily parking. You may also want to consider staying in the Marina as parking is free and you are near Cow Hollow and Chestnut street both of which draw lots of party folks to the bars and restaurants.

Joie de Vivre Hospitality has several hotels in the the city in different price points. The hotels closest to Union Square are the Rex, Adagio, Galleria Park, Petite Auberge, and White Swan. None are right on Union Square but all are within two blocks of it. You may also want to check out the Del Sol which is located between Cow Hollow and Chestnut Street just off Lombard.
