Los Angeles Hotels vs. West Hollywood Hotels?

Question: Los Angeles Hotels vs. West Hollywood Hotels?
My boyfriend & I are going to California in August. The last time we stayed there we got a room at Sunset Marquis & we loved it. However at least this time we don’t want to stay on the Sunset Strip. I found two hotels that we are interested in yet we don’t know which one we like better. Right now it’s between O Hotel in Los Angeles(http://www.ohotelgroup.com/) or Ramada Suites in West Hollywood (http://www.ramada.com/Ramada/control/Booking/property_info?propertyId=00320)

Can anybody tell me which one they recommended better?
We really want this trip to memorable as it was last time. Please help!

I would say the O Hotel.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend either of your choices as reflected by many other forum member objections.

Here’s a far better option which will allow you to taste the wonder food at the 101 Coffee Shop and stay at a truly Hollywood-ish flavored hotel–it’s the Best Western Hollywood Hills:

I agree ramada is gross. West Hollywood has the better hotels. I really liked the sunset towers which used to be an old hollywood apt with tenants like john wayne, bugsy, and marilyn monroe. Its right across from the saddleranch too. Or if you are staying for a longer trip the montrose is a nice all suites hotel right off sunset. We stayed there last year and are going again next weekend. The rooms are huge and some have little mini levels where your bed and bathroom are up to the left when you walk in and then you walk down three steps or so into your living area and kitchen. The standard in hollywood also has a really cool rooftop bar/pool but I have never stayed there.

Ramada is a horrible hotel chain.

Go to Tripadvisor.com and it will give you reviews and pictures from people who’ve stayed at the particular hotel you want.

Making hotel recommendations without knowing what you want to do and see is very tricky. However, in this case, I think I can do it. The O Hotel is downtown on Flower St. Downtown (for me at least) is not a great place to stay (yet). This would be great if you were going to Staples for a Laker game, or to Nokia Theater for a concert. You do have easy access to get out of downtown via the Red Line Subway. But there isn’t much to do or see in that part of downtown (unless you are entertained by semi-scary homeless people). The Ramada in WeHo has a better location in terms of getting to clubs in WeHo, but is only served by bus service (and taxis, which are hard to get and very expensive).
