Abu Dhabi And Martial Arts?

0

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) consists of 7 states, termed emirates, which are located in the southeast of the Arabian Peninsula in Southwest Asia on the Persian Gulf.

The three most well-known emirates are Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi is the capital and second largest city. It is also the country’s center of political, industrial, and cultural activities.

One of the martial arts activities that has been gaining in international reputation is submission fighting.

Abu Dhabi and martial arts?

Sheik Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nayan, who happens to be one the sons of the former President of the UAE, Sheik Zayed, has been the driving force in introducing martial arts to his home country.

While studying in the United States he started to learn more about grappling which led him to training in BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu).

A man with an open mind and an eagerness to learn, Sheik Tanoon also took up Russian Sambo, freestyle wrestling and Muay Thai in which he became an expert in all. A true mixed martial artist!

He sounds like our kind of guy!

After getting back to Abu Dhabi he immediately went about in creating a combat center to provide his people with the opportunity to study and learn more about martial arts. It was named the Abu Dhabi Combat Center or short ADCC.

The man of vision and action that the Sheik is, he introduced a tournament in which the world’s best and most famous grapplers and submission fighters would compete again each other.

This tournament is simply known as the ADCC World Submission Wrestling Tournament. It has become THE submission grappling event in the world and is being copied across the globe.

To give you an idea of the caliber of competitors who have fought at this tournament are for example Renzo Gracie, Royler Gracie, Mark Kerr, Tito Ortiz, Jean Jacques Machado, Rigan Machado, Rolles Gracie, Fabricio Werdum, Josh Barnett, Vitor Belfort, Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza, Roger Gracie, Dean Lister, Jake Shields and many more. Impressed? I certinly am.

Virginia Outdoor Festivals Offer Arts, Crafts, Foods, Collectibles and Gifts

0

Types of Festivals

Virginia outdoor festivals may be specialized, or cover a range of topics. Most outdoor festivals offer a variety of foods, drinks, artwork, gifts, collectibles and entertainment. Specialized festivals cover subjects such as seafood, regional interests, history, holidays and other categories.

What to Expect

When attending a festival for the first time, the best way to learn about what to expect is to read about past events, check reviews of festivals or other first hand accounts of past experiences.

What to Bring

When planning for a Virginia festival it is a good idea to pack a few items even if you don’t expect to need them. Items to bring include lightweight collapsible chairs, layered clothes, sunglasses, sun block, sunglasses, hats, water, ice, snacks and a camera. Virginia weather can change suddenly and is not predictable, so having more than you expect can save the day if rain or wind sets in.

Festival Shopping

Nearly all festivals offer at least some shopping opportunities. Many events will have a large selection of crafters and other vendors. As the festival season enters Autumn, festivals offer more and more items related to Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukah, Kwanza, Christmas and other celebrations.

How to Choose the Best Festivals

Virginia festival enthusiasts can find out about the top festivals in their area by visiting news portals and regional blogs such as Chincoteague Island Virginia News, Virginia Beach Virginia and Chesapeake Bay News.

Other sources of festival information include newspapers, specialty shops, clubs, newsletters, online searches and word of mouth recommendations. Social media can be an excellent source of information. In addition, many festivals now have a presence on one or several social media sites. These can include Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media sites.

Hit the Edinburgh Festival for a World of Arts

0

There’s only one place in the world where you can watch the biggest names in comedy perform side by side with students trying out their first stand up tour, or see a Shakespeare play performed as if all of the characters were zombies, or even take in a theatrical experience entitled something along the lines of “Musical: The Musical… The Musical!” The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is renowned worldwide as the biggest and best chance to see a mass celebration of the arts as the world’s freshest talent comes together to perform in one city Each year, the festival sees millions of performers and spectators descend on the Scottish capital to enjoy shows from their favourite performers or to experience entirely new acts – many of which offer the excellent extra of being free to attend. Many of the world’s biggest comedians found their feet at the Edinburgh Festival, and for this reason it’s held in very high regard amongst the higher circles of the industry. What’s more, the Fringe is amateur acts’ chance to test out their skills in front of an audience to see what works and what doesn’t, helping them to weed out the weaker material in time for next year. During the day, when shows aren’t being put on in massive theatres or in poor students’ living rooms, the streets are filled with jugglers, fire breathers, magicians and various other entertainers. All of these free shows which pack the Royal Mile are put on for the sole purposes of entertaining the masses – though they’ll appreciate you dropping a few coins into their hat as you stroll past and take something else in. Famous city park The Meadows is another great area to go and soak up the Fringe atmosphere. Like the high street and main Edinburgh areas, the Meadows is packed with performers, as well as stalls and funfair rides for all to enjoy. The world famous Chinese State Circus also sets up camp here and is well worth taking a look at, with a myriad of human performers executing stunning and dangerous routines before audiences who flock there in their hundreds. The Fringe is best known for bringing diverse acts and tastes together. At the Pleasance courtyard venue, you’re likely to catch a kids’ comedy show being put on in one venue with a raunchy burlesque taking place in the next – and such diversity is the very core of the Edinburgh Festival. August is certainly the most popular time for tourists to check into Edinburgh hotels, and with good reason. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is a true must-see occasion that will have you craving a return to the city each August for years to come.
