I couldn’t tell you specifically — sorry — but if you go online and zero in on the hotel you like, you’ll be able to key in ‘military discount.’ You’ll find that most hotels offer it. I know we’ve used it for Marriott.
My husband is ex-air force, so I always look at military rate. If you’re eligible for for any other discount (like AAA or AARP) you might find rates to be cheaper. I think hotels assume that the government is paying, so the rates don’t have to be that competitive.

If you’re going to the Decatur campus you can look at “The Clarion” in Decatur, Ga. Last time I checked they had units going for $ 580

Thank you everyone. I will be attending school in downtown Atlanta, off of peachtree street and I was looking for apartments around there.
I checked out the links Hazy recommended and I found a few decent prices*, but …I don’t know about the community. This is kind of hard. Housing on campus is about $ 7,000 a year, which is about $ 580/mo.
I’ve given in and decided to look for a room mate. You see, I have a cat and she’s my sanity. She’s like my daughter and I absolutely can not give her away. I was looking at Ashley Collegetown – anyone know anything about this place?

Good evening all,
My best friend and I are strongly considering moving to Atlanta and getting an apartment so we can be roommates. I wanted to know if there are any areas where a good apartment can be found. The most we’d like to spend is $ 1000 a month. While I do understand the cost of living in Atlanta is reasonable, we may not bring a car, so we really need to find a place that is within walking distance of all the major amenities, especially the MARTA subway. Ideally, no more than a five or ten minute walk. Since we may not have a car, we really don’t want to look in any areas that are not MARTA-accessible: such as some parts of Fulton, DeKalb County, or Gwinnett. Are there any good, safe areas that are recommended? Thanks!

You may want to reconsider the car thing, Atlanta is such a huge city to be here without a car is awful. If you are thinking of buying a car after you get here, people think because the have no rust they are worth a mint. If you go on line to WSB tv there are links that can get you to rentals and get a idea what housing cost and where you want to be.
