Contact your local BLM office (blm.gov), National Parks (nps.gov), and your state park agency (www.parks.wa.gov). They know the most about the land they manage and really do love to help the public decide on how best to enjoy that land. You can also look on sites like gorp.away.com that can give you suggestions on areas near your town.

Scott and I backpacked Eagle Creek near Cascade Locks, Oregon, in June 2010. My gear weighed in at 52.75 pounds. I imagine that Scott’s was just about as heavy. We hiked 12 miles and camped two nights. I’m reuploading this because Youtube’s original conversion completely slaughtered the video from anything visual. I kept seeing a giant letter R, as clear as the one here, though there is nothing resembling a letter in this video.

Ultralight Backpacking Sleeping Bag Liner Snow Suit Combo

Twenty-four inches wide by 6 feet long, made of prima loft quilt insulation and lightweight nylon overlay, this gizmo doubles as a sleeping bag liner (you have to keep it on top of you inside your regular bag or quilt) that adds maybe 15 degrees to the cold you can withstand, and if you slip it over your head and stuff the “legs” into your pants, you’ve turned your windbreaker and camping pants into a snowsuit! And it only weighs 13 oz. If I were to do it again, though, I’d make it 30 inches wide.

3 month backpacking trip to Thailand/Cambodia/Laos/Vietnam, how much money will I need?

4

I’m planning on leaving next month for a backpacking trip. I want it to last around 3 months, give or take a week. I’ve done some extensive research but would like some direct communication with locals/people who have done this before. I’m from Canada so my budget is in Canadian Dollars. I am planning on budgeting $3,500 CDN for this trip (airfare, travel insurance is all seperate. Strictly for food and accomodations during trip). Do you think I can make it for 2. 5-3 months on this type of a budget from the End of May-Aug? I’ve heard of others saying 1000 Baht a day is plenty, and I’ve also heard that the down season is much cheaper than the busy season. Are these figures correct? Do you have any other tips for me?

Thanks alot guys! I’m really looking forward to this
