My laptop was stolen from my checked baggage?
2Question: My laptop was stolen from my checked baggage?
I flew home to Arkansas from New York on Sunday and my laptop wasn’t in my bag when I got home. I’m positive that someone stole it (probably baggage handlers) and I have so much important stuff on it. I have no insurance either so I’m still having to pay it off. I didn’t have a TSA slip in my bag, so I know it wasn’t the TSA search. What can I do?

You can notify the airline but airline specifically exclude anything expensive from baggage coverage. That is why you must never check anything expensive or important.
How do I get excess baggage cheapest to Germany?
0Question: How do I get excess baggage cheapest to Germany?
I have been in the UK for an exchange year, now I will go back to Germany in June – and of course there are a lot of things I’d like to take with me – how can I do this in the best and cheapest way? I will have approx. 50kg at least – parcels or excess baggage shipping? Or any other solutions? Thank you for answering!

your books will be heaviest – I’d go for parcels! I did with my books and other paper stuff when I moved from Belgium to Ireland, it’s usually the heaviest especially if you have a lot of it.
Either that or take it in two times – leave some stuff with a friend and return to UK for a weekend with an empty suitcase to pick up the rest.
You could also combine: send paper by post and take the rest in two turns – you’ll also have an excuse for a visit back there if you have some stuff left back there to pick up!
Excess bagage is to be avoided – it cost a lot, and if the flight’s fully booked, the airline might not even allow it even if you pay the fee for it. You might be able to have more bagage allowance on “business class” tickets depending on the airline, but that’s pricey too so it might be cheaper to go back again than to take it all with business tickets.
One last and final option is to have a friend or family member come over without much bagage (hand luggage at most) and have them take some of your stuff back as “their” luggage.
Would a women’s purse count as one piece of carry on baggage?
4Question: Would a women’s purse count as one piece of carry on baggage?
I am travelling with a toddler & I will have my purse, a diaper bag, a laptop, and the stroller (which I would assume wouldn’t count as it goes below with the check in luggage) I’m flying NWA. I believe I am allowed 2 carry on’s while flying with a toddler.

I believe it does count as a carry on – I think it is a “personal item” – but check the website for your airline and I’m sure you can get a specific answer there. Why don’t you try putting your purse inside the diaper bag when you board? That’s what I usually do.
Baggage insurance on a plane?
0Question: Baggage insurance on a plane?
so i’m flying home from 6 months of active duty in the continental U.S. and obviously during this time ive accumulated some belongings, one of them being a 22 inch LCD TV, i have a bag large enough to accomadate it, and i have it padded down pretty well, but im worried that it might still get broken, is baggage on an airplane automatically insured or do i have to request and pay for it myself? i really dont want to have to ship it via mail system

Breakage is not covered by insurance, only loss of the entire bag and contents. This is because they have no control over how well you packed it. This is why in the instructions in the box it came in they tell you to keep all the packaging materials. The best you can do is pack it and well trade.
Ryanair – Travel insurance & Baggage allowances?
0Question: Ryanair – Travel insurance & Baggage allowances?
There is a group of 8 of us flying with Ryanair next week, and everything is all booked up and ok as far as I’m aware. They obviously know there is 8 of us, but they asked how many bags we wish to check in and we said 4. The majority of us are ok with just hand luggage, just the females that need more lol. Anyway I’ve put a few bits in my missus checked bag, as have a couple of others with their partners. Whilst I was having a quick browse around the Ryanair website I found this;
“No pooling or sharing of baggage allowances is permitted, even within a party travelling on the same reservation.”
Does anyone know why this is? Apart from a money making scheme? I don’t see the problem with putting a few of my bits in there. Do you think they will search all of the bags, and if they suspect that it’s not all hers what will happen?
Also, just a quick question about travel insurance. I’m insured through my bank, but what documents will I need to take to the airport? Just the travel insurance policy?
Thanks in advance.

It doesn’t say “no pooling or sharing of baggage” it says “…of baggage allowances”. That is, you can’t bring a 50kg suitcase and say “well, there’s three of us, so 20 kgs for me, 20kgs for the missus, and 10 for our friend there”. They (obviously) don’t search the luggage for women’s underwear in a man’s suittcase, not even Ryanair! :-)
I have no idea on the travel insurance, I’m afraid. I never use one.

What is the baggage weight limit for international flights?
2Question: What is the baggage weight limit for international flights?
I’ve heard it changed recently, and I wanted to know if it was 50lbs or 70lbs for international flights, specifically to Europe. This is the checked in baggage, not the carry on.

70 lbs, but do not make it exact, at least 68 lbs to avoid hassle, 2 baggages each person. I just had my international travel last July.

There are a few different options.
When reserving an itinerary through an airline or a travel portal, you will usually get the option to purchase travel insurance (TI) through a partner. Read the terms and conditions (T&C) to see what it covers, but it’s usually things like lost luggage, trip cancellations (eg, the cruise you were planning to take is cancelled due to hurricanes), and medical.
Another option is to see if the credit card company will cover it. Again, review the credit card T&C or call them to see what, if anything, they cover.
The final option is to go find independent TI, either on your own or through a travel agent. There are plenty of options, like CSA, TravelGuard, etc. There is a website called Travel Insurance Review that may be helpful (link below). I also like a web forum called FlyerTalk for almost any and all questions related to travel.
