There have been many specials about this both on The Travel Channel & Discovery Channel. Building & shake down cruise (where they test it for acouple of days without passengers) average is 3 months. Some take alittle longer depending on if all can be assembled at one place. For the most part they are build in sections & then placed together like a puzzle. May not sound so but, a very interesting show to see how the ship or one like it was that you are sailing on was build.
