Mallorca has something for everyone and that’s why every year more than eight million tourists come here from all over the world. The southern and eastern parts of the island attract the most attention, but you may wish to avoid the crowds and head to the less busy beaches. There are certainly plenty of secluded treasures on Mallorca, and that is why celebrities like Michael Douglas visit the island and why the local legend and six time grand slam tennis winner Rafael Nadal has never been tempted away from his home. According to property website Spanish Hot Properties a disproportionate amount of their enquiries are for Mallorca with some 30% of clients wanting to live on this island paradise even though location and property prices did not always support their choice. Nick Stuart, managing director of Spanish Hot Properties said: “We found that the majority of the people looking to buy property in Mallorca were of the view that they would never get a better time to buy. Importantly most of them believe that Mallorca property prices will bounce back from the recession way before any other part of Spain. He continued: “Despite the fact that they could get a much bigger property for their money in places such as Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol, many of our customers believe the Kings Island of Mallorca was the best place to buy and that now is the time to make a purchase?Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and its capital Palma de Mallorca is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the whole of Spain. Palma de Mallorca has a fascinating history, great shopping and some wonderful restaurants, in short everything to keep you entertained no matter how long you are staying. Other places which are well visited on Mallorca are the Cala D’or which has an annual jazz festival, Cala Ratjada which gets a bit crowded with tour operators and Dei which is a small but very charming village in the Tramuntana Mountains, a mountain range which runs through the island. The mountains are also where the Monastery of Lluc is located and you are sure to find this a relaxing and peaceful place to visit. Somewhere much more vibrant is the tourist resort of Magaluf but the nightlife here is not for the faint hearted. The food in Mallorca is fantastic with the seafood being a good as you would expect from a Mediterranean island. Mallorca has a busy international airport which is served by flights from all over Europe and major cities world wide. It is also possible to get to Mallorca by ferry from the neighbouring Balearic Islands such as Ibiza just 50 miles to the south west and Menorca, Mallorca’s smaller cousin island only 20 miles north east. The Balearic Islands, particulalry Ibiza have become international hot spots in the summer attracting crowds from all over to experience the night life, dominated by the Dance music. The worlds top DJ’s perform throughout the summer at the Islands biggest clubs including Amnesia, Pacha and Eden. If you are planning on taking in the club scene this year, Ibiza should be top of your list as its reputation as the party capital of the world stands strong.
