Because down the road, you pass through a series of switchbacks, breathtaking landscape, smaller cousin of the Grand Canyon. It is an attraction that you do not want to miss. Known for colorful rocks and unique formations, Oak Creek Canyon is world famous for its stunning landscapes.

Before you want your way through the canyon, stop in Oak Creek Canyon Vista, where you have to offer a fantastic view of the canyon to get what. Here you will find all kinds of Indian handicrafts for sale to find local artisans – it’s a great way to get some local color

If you put a nice long look at the landscape, it is time to make your way into serpentine. How do we get to the Oak Creek trail in Sedona?

Question: How do we get to the Oak Creek trail in Sedona?
We’ll be there on Tuesday and we’ve planned to go to the Oak Creek trail…but I can’t find a site that gives detailed directions let alone an address for our GPS. They just say “Off highway 89.”

Anyone from that area that can give us driving directions will be my hero. We’re staying at the Sedona Rouge Hotel (as a starting point for directions, if necessary).

Heading south on I17, as you pass Flagstaff, they’ll be signs for 89A South to Sedona. This highway takes you through the Oak Creek Canyon to Sedona. There are several trailheads off the highway. The scenery is more popular the closer you get to Sedona so maybe take the 20 mile drive to Sedona making notes of the areas you’d like to hike and then backtracking to the area that you like best.

“Off highway 89″ is right. There isn’t one trailhead – just find a spot from the highway that looks nice and has parking.

Scott and I backpacked Eagle Creek near Cascade Locks, Oregon, in June 2010. My gear weighed in at 52.75 pounds. I imagine that Scott’s was just about as heavy. We hiked 12 miles and camped two nights. I’m reuploading this because Youtube’s original conversion completely slaughtered the video from anything visual. I kept seeing a giant letter R, as clear as the one here, though there is nothing resembling a letter in this video.
