Question: Which card offers affordable travel insurance for delayed flights?
I travel overseas once a year and during December flights are often delayed from JFK, New York due to inclement weather conditions(in which case the airlines don’t have to offer any reimbursement for accommodation or food).

I have a Amex, Discover, Visa Signature, Mastercard(Citi PremierPass which has no annual fee) and Chase Freedom Mastercard.

I saw Amex Travel delay protection at https://www152.americanexpress.com/fsea/travel/travel_delay/product.do?intlink=premiumprotecthub_browsepromos_tdpmonitoring
which costs 9.99/per trip per passenger. But, I cannot enroll in it as I live in Florida which is not included for coverage.

I looked at the thread http://creditcardforum.com/american-express/406-american-express-travel-benefits.html but it seems Travel insurance is free for Centurion card holders only from Amex

A quick search indicates Visa/Master card offer Travel insurance which will reimburse the passenger should he lose his life or become maimed, but I did not notice any Travel Delay insurance benefits(not even with Visa signature, though I browsed the signature webpage quickly so could have missed something).

I don’t want to purchase such insurance sold by third party insurance companies or apply for a premium card like Blackcard which has a hefty annual fee.

1. Are there any Visa/Master/Amex cards which offer this Travel insurance for free or a lower price?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Question: Why do return flights to UK always become the delayed London flight when every other week it has returned?
For example every week a flight returns to Leeds/East Midlands/Manchester. This week the flight from Leeds arrives as usual on time. The Gatwick flight is delayed. Suddenly the incoming Leeds flight becomes the Gatwick return and the Leeds flight waits for the incoming Gatwick to return.

Could be more people are needed to go to Gatwick, then Leeds. Or there are people getting onto another flight from Gatwick and if they are delayed then they will miss their international / other flight and the airline would be held responsible (unless it’s due to weather this is not the airlines fault). I am not sure that Leeds is an international airport so there wouldn’t be a problem with them bring late.

Question: Do I need to tip for delivery of my delayed luggage?
American Airlines “lost” my luggage again, probably for the 4th time. My question is, do I need to tip the driver who deliver the delayed luggage to my apartment although the service was caused by inconvenient reason? If so, how much? Thanks.
Ok, so some people say I should tip him. How much though?

NO!!!!! of course not. They messed up your luggage…..its like saying “Thanks for losing my luggage…..here’s some money.”

what hotels Singapore airlines use in Singapore for their delayed customers?

Hi,
I wonder if you can assist

We soon flying on holiday through Singapore to Malaysia on Singapore Airlines. I just found out that some flights have been cancelled and overbooked resulting us not being in Singapore only for max two hours (had brillant connection and worked like a clock) but now agent said that first way we have to wait for 10 hours for connectiong flight then on the way back 26 hours!! Agent confirmed that Singapre airlines will provide hotel. Can you advise:
1. What hotels usually they provide and do I have a choice
2. We have only economical tickets however do we have any legal right to ask for upgrade (I heard Singapre airline are totally ininterested in that they even ask people then to cancell the tickets)
3. While in Singapore for that tiem, what do you suggest we do?

All assistnace and answers will be much appreciated

Some of my family members went over to Barbadoes. My cousins only stayed a week but they were suppost to come back on saturday but their flight got delayed because there are no planes comming into new york. I wasnt sure if there has been any high terror alerts because I havent heard any thing. The air line put them in the Hilten and they met some other people there who told them that they have been waiting for their flight for almost three days now.
