Question: Any tips for changing airline carriers during the same flight?
At the end of May, I will be flying from Birmingham, AL to St.Paul, Minnesota. I start the flight on American Airlines, lay over in Chicago, then continue to MSP on Northwest Airlines. I’m concerned about my luggage and any potential problems during this flight. I have a 1 hour layover flying from BHM to MSP and I have a 3 hour layover on the flight home with the same airline change. I welcomed any advise or guidance

Time Wise-your good on the way back, but it might be tight on the way there, depending the the size of the airport and the location of the gate.
your luggage will transfer over to the next flight, even though it is on a different airline, just make sure you tell this to the worker at the check in counter so they know to check it on both flights.

I’m going to stay in New Orleans for the first time during this year’s festival, and can’t wait. I’d like to be able to see a lot of the city, but be close enough to City Park for the show.

Question: Can you ski in Aspen during the summer?
I know it probably sounds like a dumb question, but I’m from the south and I wasn’t sure if it was cold enough in Colorado all year around for people to be able to ski all year round, too.

you can’t ski in Aspen in the summer, but not really a dumb question, it does snow sometimes in the summer, last year it snowed in August. You’ll need to wait until at least October before you can think about skiing. If you’re thinking of going check out one of the web cam sites

New York is always expensive – given the popularity for leisure and business travel, there’s no real off-peak period as with so many other destinations. The best place I’ve found for deals is Travelzoo.com. I live a few hours from NYC and have gotten some amazing deals through that site.
If you are traveling from further away, look for a package with air and hotel.

Question: Family Vacation: what’s the cheapest accomodations during travel?
We haven’t been on a family vacation in a long time. We will be “on the road” probably a good 10-12 days with our 21 year old son and teen daughters this July and we need ideas for affordable accomodation. We have friends scattered about but my husband wants this to be a vacation, with a capital V.
We cannot use our current vehicles because they are older and not reliable so we will be spending a little on a rental. We will be travelling down the East Coast (from Canada) to Florida across to Mississippi for a family reunion and then back up north through Tennessee and Ohio.
Does anybody have any creative ideas? I’ve checked the prices of motorhomes for rent (that’s out of the question!). We can’t really afford a camper rental either PLUS a van rental. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Check the rout your taking then look into campgrounds that are more or less on the way. Just take a tent and some sleeping bags and you can overnight at a campground with facilities for just dollars a night. Take a camp stove and some basic groceries to make dinner there and you’ll save further. It’s not luxurious but it’s definitely economical.
