Question: White water rafting – weight limit? How hard is it physically? What fitness level is needed for 1/2 day trip?
I am going white water rafting with my family, but my mom is worried about weight limit for herself & that she isn’t physically fit enough. My mom has no mobility problems and she works on her feet all day long. She is able to do mild-moderate hikes without difficulty. She doesn’t have any health problems, but she is overweight. I am trying to put her mind at ease, but I am not having any luck when looking on rafting websites. So, yahoo! public, what do you know?
Are there ever weight limits for the average 1/2 day rafting trip? What are they?
What kind of physical fitness level is needed?
Any information related to fitness/weight and rafting would be appreciated. I really want my mom to join the family on this trip!

No offence but how big is your mom? Tell her that it is a blast and she has got to go. I have never heard of any weight restrictions except that you have to be at least 90lbs to hit the class 4 and 5 rapids, and it doesn’t sound like that is a problem. As far as physical strain is concerned there are usually 8 to 12 people in a raft her input will not be missed. Just have her in between two stronger paddlers. I have been on several trips and there are usually at least 3 or 4 people in the raft that do very little paddling. Mention it to your guide and he will make sure to put her in a position that is insignificant. Mom if you’re reading this “Go for it!” you won’t regret it.

Question: How hard is it to get into helicopter pilot school in the Army?
Should someone join the ROTC in college and make the best grades possible, etc?
Or should you enlist right after high school?
What is the ideal career path for someone who wants to be a helicopter pilot in the Navy or Army or Marines?

For Army, look into the Warrant Officer flight program. You need a high school diploma.
To fly in any other branch you’ll need a college degree and good grades.
I’m not demeaning the Army program, it is a very good program. Flying a helicopter or airplane really isn’t that hard. Before WWII and into WWII Marine enlisted flew aircraft. I think enlisted pilots is a good idea.

Kolb has a lot of talent and the Eagles will likely trade him to, if they could, if the value of trade for McNabb is significantly higher than for a quarterback with virtually no starting experience.

You need to take a test and then the best way is to join the Guide Association. I was interested in becoming one too, so I crash one of their meetings. They are right in times square and the people are very nice and informative. http://www.ganyc.org/

me and my mom are going to go see Jersey boys in december. my mom decided that since Christmas is in December that we should go the 1st week, i was thinking December 6th, since she doesn’t want to go on a sunday. i live in NYC, so she is just coming up to visit for that week. i really want to go see jersey boys with her. I’m looking on all the major ticket sites (ticketmaster, telecharge, etc.) and they are saying that all the tickets are sold out for that performance. how in the world can they already sold out when its 4 months away?! i do not understand. i read all the reviews for the show, some are good and some are bad. a lot of them do not recommend going to the show because of profanity, but i think they are talking about young children seeing the show. why in the world are these tickets so hard to get? is the show so amazing that even people from other countries are coming over just to see the show? i dont get it. i have seen many many shows, and yes the tickets are hard to get, but not as hard as this show! does anybody know why? thanks.

That is kind of strange actually< it is probably just because everyone is going to be in for the holidays, Deccember is NYs busiest month after all. Id still try stubnub.com and if you are really set for going on the date i would check out the box office about 2 or 3 hours before the show, see if anyone canceled there tickets or if there is any openings and go eat dinner and come back. also look into on stage seating, they might have a seat or two open, just ask the box office

You will need a survey for any company to take it. Call Boat US and ask them what surveyors they will accept. Ours is 78 and they insure it.
