I will be sailing with Carnival for 12 days on the Mediterranean and Greek Isles cruise. We are departing September 19. Anyone going on that cruise?? Any suggestions for MUST DO shore excursions?

Don’t book the ships tours. They cost too much, call a car rental company and book a rental car they will deliver it to the port where you dock. make sure you give your self plenty plenty of time to get back to the ship, otherwise they WILL sail without you. Read up on the places you’ll be visiting. and go from there. Take the train into Athens, visit the Parthenon. watch your wallets and purses. Pickpockets abound, one fellow on our cruise had his wallet stolen while on the train station at Levorno, right in front of us all, and we never saw a thing. Barcelona is TERRIBLE for pick pockets. KIDS will pick your pocket, right out on Les Rambles. in broad daylight. go see Pompeii. Interesting. enjoy. We did.

You should come from June till the beginning of September! In June the islnds are not so crowded! From July(mostly after 15th) until August (mainly till 20th), the islands are very crowded! Then you can enjoy a perfect night-life. But if you want to enjoy our beautiful beaches is better to come at the end of June or at the beginning of September!
Enjoy your vacations, whenever you will be able to come!

Question: Sailing the Greek Isles?
My Fiance and I are getting married in Santorini in September and would like to spend some time sailing. We’re not exactly sure what island we plan to visit after Santorini, but we are open to suggestions.
I am looking for suggestions on sailing vacations. Though I used to do a lot of sailing, and even taught sailing, it has been quite a few years, so we won’t be able to do a bareboat charter. Instead, we’ll probably have to do a crewed charter.
Any suggestions on: 1) charter companies to use, or 2) islands to visit would be very appreciated.

Well, I don’t know any charter companies to recommend. But about islands to visit, I would say that since u will be in Santorini, that you might as well do your sailing in the Cyclades, the island group in the south Aegean since that is where you already will be. The other major islands of the Cyclades are Amorgos, Anafi, Ándros, Antiparos, Delos, Ios, Kéa, Kimolos, Kythnos, Mílos, Mykonos, Náxos, Páros, Folegandros, Serifos, Sifnos, Sikinos, Síros and Tínos. Take a look at a map to see where each one is located, and then do a google search or read about each one in a travel book, and make your decision based on your personal preference.
