How can onboard ship credits be spent on Royal Caribbean Cruises?
2Question: How can onboard ship credits be spent on Royal Caribbean Cruises?
I’m going on a Royal Caribbean cruise on Freedom of the Seas this weekend. We have a total of $ 690 of onboard ship credit but i cant figure out what all you can spend it on. I know we can use it in the gift shops and on drinks and excursions but is there anything else that we can spend it on?
Excursions and Gratuities are prepaid so I can’t use it for that. Can you use any of it in the Casino?

You have about covered all the bases except for having a massage or spa treatment.
$ 690 isn’t a lot if you go on a couple of excursions, have a couple of drinks each night, your gratuities (if you haven’t prepaid them) and buy some photographs. Add on a spa treatment and I would think you would have wiped it out.
Enjoy your cruise.
Edit: Tinkertoys idea for the casino is good, it converts your on-board credit into cash that you can use ashore.

How to Save Money Onboard Your Cruise
1cruise consolidators
Hi. Bob Levinstein from www.CruiseCompete.com here—where agents compete to offer you the best cruise deal—with some tips about saving money onboard your cruise. One of the great things about cruising is that your cruise fare includes your cabin, meals and a tremendous variety of activities and entertainment all for one price. However, that doesn’t mean that everything on the ship is free. Here are some tips on saving money and avoiding unpleasant surprises when you close out your onboard account. The biggest onboard revenue generators for cruise lines are alcoholic and premium drinks (which are usually specialty coffee drinks and sodas), shore excursions, and casino gambling. Add in spa treatments and shopping onboard and in port, and these make up the lion’s share of a typical cruise vacationers spend. Before you sail, set budgets for everything, and keep track of your spending once on board. Find a balance between being in vacation mode and just indulging in what you want, and pinching pennies. To avoid overspending on gambling, the easiest thing to do is just win. But if you can’t count on that, set limits on both the time and money you plan to spend in the casino. Onboard spa treatments tend to be pretty expensive, so do check prices online before you sail and have a realistic expectation of what you want to spend. You can sometimes find special deals on spa treatments at less-popular times, especially when the ship is in port. Alcohol is one of the biggest onboard …
What are included in the price of a Western Mediterranean Cruise onboard the Norwegian Jade?
2Question: What are included in the price of a Western Mediterranean Cruise onboard the Norwegian Jade?
I’m planning to go on a 7-night Western Mediterranean cruise onboard the Norwegian Gem departing on May 23. The Itinerary is what follows:
1-Barcelona
2-Monte Carlo
3-Livorno
4-Civitavecchia
5-Naples
6-At Sea
7-Palma
8-Barcelona
I was wondering what are included in the cruise fare. I hear that soda and other alcoholic beverages are not included so are bottled water for free? During meal times, which drinks do they offer free? Can I get shore excursions in the local destinations? I find the ones NCL are offering to be really expensive and I was wondering if I could find cheaper deals on the shore. I also wonder if NCL has a Captain’s Ball of some sort where everyone is asked to wear formal clothes and be in the main dining room with the Captain. And I also want more advices regarding cruising since it would be my first.

You pay extra for bottled water, but the water on the ships is just fine for drinking, so bring your own water bottle and refill it. You pay for gambling, anything you buy on the ship(the ship has several stores on it) and spa treatments too. Unless you speak the language of the country where you are going, this is one time when shore excursions booked through the ship may be worth it. Civitavecchia is the port to Rome and is at least an hour away, so this is a must do to book through the ship. Traffic can be crazy in Italy, so take that into consideration for all shore excursions. They do have a Captains ball which is a formal night, but the Captain most likely will not be eating with you. He just gives a speech beforehand and then leaves. which cruise lines have the least movement while onboard a mediterranean cruise?
2Question: which cruise lines have the least movement while onboard a mediterranean cruise?
anybody?

Answer by Lew
The weather in the Mediterranean is usually quite good and now days all cruise ships are fitted with stabilisers, which when deployed reduce lateral movement or rolling to a minimum. Cruise ships are so large now, that a cruise ship of 70,000 tons is considered small but even so won’t pitch in the sheltered waters of the Mediterranean.
I would suggest that one of the larger liners 100,000+tons would not move much, in even bad weather, in the Med.
As they say, bigger is better, if you don’t want to rock.

CCL are also known among their passengers for their towel animals. Their trademark is a funnel with the combination of red, white, and blue colors and shaped like a whale’s tail.
CCL’s mascot is named as Fun Ship Freddy, a character in the shape of the Carnival funnel.

Tips on Working Onboard a Cruise Ship
0If you like frequent travel and do not find providing service to others a chore, then you should seriously consider working in the cruise lines onboard one of the cruise ships. If you do not mind being away from home for weeks or months at a stretch and love to explore different places and cultures, there is no better job than working onboard a cruise ship. The cruise industry is booming with many countries wooing the major cruise lines. Singapore for example, has invested heavily in building a cruise center and is planning to build another bigger facility. This has attracted major players like the Royal Caribbean Cruise to the island. Cruise holidays in the region have taken off in a big way, adding to the many choices of destinations in the traditional areas of the Caribbean and Europe.
There are many benefits to employment onboard a cruise ship. The salaries are competitive as the major players vie for experienced crew. All cruise lines offer great staff incentives such as highly discounted price for cruises by employees and their family. One good thing about working onboard a cruise ship is that all living expenses are taken care of. There is accommodation and meals provided. There are also recreational facilities for ship crew. Even the clothing is provided so one can really save all of one’s salary for the entire trip.
Of course, the special perks are the areas, which one will visit. Imagine a trip to the sunny climes of the Caribbean or being up close with the magnificent glaciers in the Alaska or visiting the exotic Southeast Asia. The best part is that it is free. Besides the interesting time onboard, one can get to visit the various countries if off duty during the port calls.
Most of the cruise line schedules their employees for a 2 weeks cruise, then two weeks off at home. If you have no big family commitment, then having 2 weeks holidays every other fortnight is a great deal.
There are many different types of staff required a cruise ship. Besides the sailor to man the ship, there is the service staff who looks after the passengers. There is also specialist staff like spa masseuse, chef and exercise therapist. Many entertainers have also found employment onboard. Most jobs require a contract to be signed for a minimum of four to six months.
While many people will return time and again for a good cruise experience, you can have it all and get paid for it.
