Over seven years ago, a Arthur Frommer’s Newsletter alerted me to a reasonably priced trip to Kenya from 2AFRIKA, Inc., based out of New York City. Since that time, we have traveled to Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, South Africa, Zambia, and Botswana with 2AFRIKA. A few months ago, a colleague of mine arranged a corporate charter for our company. He called a company based in Rose Bay…Sydney Harbour Escapes. They had so many boats to choose from, but basically they emailed him through heaps of options and gave their personal advice on what would be best for us.

We ended up doing a sailing race…a catamaran regatta on three of their boats (Seawind Catamaran). We were divided into teams of three on three separate boats…my team was on a boat called Perfect Day, which of course won hands down! My competitive streak came out, so I got really hands on, where as a few of my colleagues chose to lay out on the front deck with a drink in hand and enjoyed the ride. It was great.

We stopped to raft up outside the zoo for lunch (which our skippers cooked up on the BBQ).

It was so much fun – highly recommend for a fun day out on Sydney Harbour. It really suited our team, whereas you may like to opt for a high-end cruiser to do the day in style…they have huge boats to accommodate your party of 60 for a more tame harbour cruise.

Anyway, speak with them direct and they’ll give you honest advice and send through prices etc.

I am not an experienced climber or hiker, but am in excellent cardiovascular health. I look forward to the challenge and the views. I currently live in Northern California and can train periodically at high altitudes. Right now I am aware of REI. Do you know of others?
