Parents wont let me travel to London alone…?

0

Question: Parents wont let me travel to London alone…?
So as it stands, I’m 20, nearly 21. Going to college (I live about 2 minutes from it, so decided to stay with my parents.) I pay rent every single month, I pay for my food, I work, I also bought my own car, and pay for my insurance. Basically I’m living with my parents, yet I pay for what i would if i were on my own. I get decent grades in College (holding about a 3.6 GPA)
So, I’ve been trying to go to London to visit a friend (yes, we’ve met) for a little over a year now. Every single time i ask them, they throw a fit. It even got to the point where i actually booked a flight, because they said it was fine, paid for all by myself (i have quite a lot of money saved up), then the day before the flight, my mother said “if you take your car (4 hour drive to airport) I’ll report it stolen (though its in my name…which makes no logical sense). I suppose I’m just a bit scared that i’d disappoint them. How do i go about telling them that I AM going this winter vacation for about a week? I’m sure they’ll be disappointed, but any pointers on how to actually convince them? I mean i AM over the age of 18, i AM paying for everything..I just dont get it…

Time for a little family time. Get them to sit and listen while you talk. Tell them you appreciate their concern for you and your safety, BUT you are a person as well as a daughter and you intend to have your own life.
Tell them you are happy to stay home BUt if they try too hard to control you, it will result in you moving.
Tell them you love them BUT you will not always be the little girl and you are now a woman with her own life to live.
Try not to lose your temper but be firm and if necessary, move out. Do not back down or you will be controlled for the rest of their lives.

You would have to try to buy individual health plans for them. If available, they will be very expensive. See an insurance broker than handles individual health insurance plans.

My Parents visiting from England and health insurance in the US? HELP?

2

Question: My Parents visiting from England and health insurance in the US? HELP?
My parents come to visit from England every few years and in the past we were able to get them a Short Term Major Medical Policy for the 6-8 Week they were in the US. Now with there health they are most likely not going to qualify for it. Can anyone tell me how the Socialized medicine of England works if they get ill here in the US ( if at all) and what are some other options for them. They are scared to travel with out being covered in the US.
short term travel health insurance

Best answer:

Answer by mbrcatz17
They’ll have to check with the UK program to be sure, but I’m under the impression that “socialized medicine” isn’t insurance – it’s government health care. So there wouldn’t be any reimbursement for procedures done by “non-network” providers – otherwise known as, no coverage in the US.
