0I met dozens of ships on various lines and to my opinion, this is as good as it gets on a mega-ship of 2200 passengers + 920 crew members. Costa Atlantica has invested a floating palace of art deco furnishings, marble inlaid floors and millions of dollars in original works of art. It has exceeded my expectations. Similar to our fur hats in a garage sale may one day be found, but the negotiations was that fun.

It’s spring in Scandinavia and temperatures in May are usually 10-15C. You can watch the weather forecast for all the Nordic countries on the weather site for Norway. If you click on the city name you will get a more detailed forecast.

The weather can still change a lot this time of year though. Some years it is warm and sunny in May, other years are cool and rainy. Even if the day is warm, the evening is often cool and breezy. It’s best to pack/dress in layers and bring a raincoat.

My husband is doing his second tour of afghanistan next year. durring that time he gets 3 weeks leave. the cdn. military pays a certain amount towards transportation durring that time, and can be used by a spouse to meet the CF member at a third location instead of him coming home. last time we spent the whole time in france, and a day in switzerland. it was fun, but stressful, because we were on our own for food, and hotels etc and some turned out to be less than stellar. this time we are thinking about a cruise. my husband was thinking of doing a scandinavian cruise, for a min. of 12 days. possibly more if available. has anybody been on one? how was it, what time of year did you go? how was the weather? where did you visit and what do you recomend, or advise against on these types of vacations?

i whent on one when i was a child, i found it verry enjoyable, there were seperate entertainment for the children so you should not be too bothered by them, (but i suppose it depends on the company)
we whent to major scandanavian cities like st peters bourg oslo stolkome and others.
there is allot of cultures that are ready to be experianced, i found the markets in finland very exciting and st peters burg was particularly beautiful.
when we were traveling there was plenty of entertainment, a pool and other entertainment.

I’ve cruised dozens of ships on various lines and in my opinion this is as good as it gets on a mega-liner of 2200+ passengers with 920 crew. Costa’s Atlantica was a floating palace of art deco furnishings, marble inlaid floors and millions of dollars invested in original works of art. It exceeded my expectations. Also I normally loose weight on cruises shunning the ships artificial fare. This time I over indulged on varied menus of fresh food. I ate enough prosciutto and ice cream to last a decade. The Italian accented cuisine was prepared by Euro-chefs and culinary graduates of the world famous Chaine des Rotisseurs.
I was part of an awesome group of 60 singles who blended harmoniously. This group was blessed throughout with the best weather the Baltic region could ever provide – 68 degrees daily and no rain. The First Officer said this was the best weather of the summer.

Our final port was charming Tallinn Estonia where the entire walled Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was like walking through a fairytale.

On our last night we attempted to pack all our trinkets collected: Faberge egg, Russian nesting dolls, Swedish crystal, Finish glassware, Nordic pewter, lingonberry jams, amber jewelry, hand knit sweaters and a million T-shirts. Many things such as our fur hats may end up in a garage sale some day, but the bargaining sure was fun.
We tasted just an appetizer of this 5 country smorgasbord but leave perfectly satisfied. As I say Bon Voyage to this unique part of this world, I am able to remiss another journey well done.
