I’m always looking for source material. While walking along a pedestrian zone along the coast of San Francisco Bay, I met a sailboat that broke loose from its moorings and was stranded when the tide was. I did not know how I wanted to use it, but I photographed the boat any way and from different angles.
About six months later I was photographing rough seas off the coast of Marin County (at Rodeo Beach), if it occurred to me, I could composite the sailboat in the sea and create a Image for illustrative danger, risk and challenge. It turned out that the sea is not really rough enough, so I photographed the waves I had to create a stormy sea. I used a sky that I had photographed years ago in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I pulled myself out of the boat, including all the different lines (ropes and wires) with clipping paths in Photoshop. Then I stuck the boat into the waves and used a layer mask to make look like the boat was actually in the waves.

Recently I have numerous photos of the paintings that I have collected “” to clear inspiration for the future created. In another such case I have decided a stock photo of a street, a number of pictures that I made to create over the years. After opening the file in Photoshop I bridge used by a folder of the potential images that I think look handy. An image of a brick wall I had some months previously in a Berkeley neighborhood caught me eye shot. It was a simple matter to the wall and plug it into the street scene select. The process took about half an hour and cost me nothing. The result was a photo by Getty has accepted in the image-brand bank.
Picturing Interiors
One thing that I try to collect more “” /> is interior. I wince when I think of all the interiors I’ve photographed over the years to think and not to take advantage. Now I make it a rule to every room I’m shooting with the inclusion in an eye towards use in a future composite.
A successful example of an interior space for hand can sleep in a stock photo of a woman like to be seen on a commercial jet. In this case, the image I have of an empty seat on the aisle from me on the return flight from Bangkok was the inspiration. I started with the image and set a model for me to put in my studio. I pulled her into the seat and a picture of a blue sky from my files into the window. The result is a photo, the camp has repeatedly been licensed as Rights Managed images.
You never know what image to go to work … or how it will work. A picture shot from the ceiling of an airport was a great setting for a child astronaut. Turned parts on his side, was the ceiling, the perfect high-tech background for a space system.
Create a library is likely and even unlikely, composite parts, is a key component of my stock plan. When I have a place or a thing I would try to get a variety of angles and heights, as I never know how things could fit together.
